But there's lot of modern tech I fuck with that has come out in the last 11 years. Leave me out of this shit.

Even LLM's are fine, they're just not revolutionary, or commercially viable, or particularly useful for much. They're not against the natural order of things, they're just an okay tech that the wealthy class is using to run a financial grift on us with.

Real advances in tech though? Crispr is the shit, MRNA is the shit, 3D printing, renewables, etc.

First time in awhile I've noticed real progress out of AI, but I will say that the new Gemini release has been a significant step up for my needs.

There is a lot of slop out there, just like there was when the internet first got released, which I think is clouding judgment for many. But I think under the hood there is real value there and definite legitimate potential to be revolutionary for purposes outside of how I use it.

Serious question though: If hallucinations are an inherent part of the technology (which appears to be the fact), how does any use case requiring accuracy without human oversight ever use it? If it can't be uncoupled from active human oversight, how can it revolutionize anything? The core promise is that it's self directed automation on steroids, right? How does it meet that promise in any use case if it requires active human auditing?

Obviously a complex situation, but just to simplify, let's say a group of 20 human workers working 8 hours a day requires 1 manager.

So now you've got a group of 20 AI's working 24 hours a day, that still requires 1 manager. Even if requires 3 managers ... it's still a massive disruption in the market and huge cost savings for the company. All this while AI output continues to get more accurate over time.
 
Just saying, if an AI can do two hours worth of research in 30 seconds, it's probably okay to expect some issues. Humans make mistakes too, and a lot of them.
