Tech Thread

It's so dumb - they could so easily sell a product that is 100% self-contained private camera footage, and then advertise to the customers all the benefits of plugging the feed into their cloud, or parts thereof - and most customers would willingly sign up for it!

but they do this underhanded big brother shit instead. fucking morons.

Been messing around with xAI and it's funny sometimes....it will randomly backtrack like three requests earlier for reasons? I also asked it to do something and while it should be able to, it just gave me detailed instructions on how to do it elsewhere instead

I've been using nano banana for some basic design work for the past few months, anecdotally I've been finding it be be getting worse at understand my intent to the point that it's requiring so much prompting I may as well be using photoshop. I'm not an expert prompter, but overall meh from me.

I've tried to use nano banana in photoshop to fix some things in images that I keep being assured is a totally simple usage of it and it's fucking horrible at understanding intent. For example, I do canvas commission pieces and a client who ordered one for her daughter at christmas (hockey player) loved the work but the daughter didn't like the shape of her nose in the image, her nostrils were flared. So you would figure that a prompt attempt or two and it should be an easy fix, no? Fucking nope. I tried 4-5 different combinations of bounding box and prompt, each time it kept doing weird shit like putting another full ass nose inside the nostrils, etc and everything was very cartoony and unbelievable. Took 10 minutes to fail at that, less time to research a tool I've barely ever used (liquify) and fix it using that. I keep hearing that it's coming for all creative jobs and all I'm seeing is deeply enshittified work from it.

One would think that a follow up question would be.....so uhhh, how does anyone make money at those numbers? A trillion, what I'm assuming is meant to be net revenue, on 5 trillion in compute spend...so at least 6+ trillion in total rev? Those are fantastical number. Why not just skip trillions and go right to a quadrillion ffs?

Google did 134 billion net revenue on 400 billion in 2025, and these guys are going to do multiples of all numbers involved on 5 trillion in spending by 2027? What in the actual fuck?

Even when they're pretending to be cautious they're just making up shit as they go along. There's really only two options. Group psychosis or a massive grift that they're trying to push over the "too big to fail" goal line.

I don't know GPT and Anthro are going to access all that cash.

Google has 126B in cash and just tapped the credit mark with a 100 yr bond. I suspect they will do that again.

>> The company raised nearly $32 billion in less than 24 hours, according to Bloomberg, which first reported the 100-year bond offering. Alphabet sold British pound- and Swiss franc-denominated debt Tuesday, following a $20 billion debt sale in the US the day before. The 100-year bond was nearly 10 times “oversubscribed,” meaning investor demand far outstripped supply.

We're talking in the trillions though. We're into the GDP of large advanced economies here for a product that as of right now is the biggest cash burning technology in human history. Fucking Manhattan Project was ~30 billion in inflation adjusted cost.

Ya… I’m taking those spending numbers with a grain of salt. There’s a bit of bluffing about future spending numbers
