Tech Thread

hey a utopia might be fine.

but i like how Jon points out the idiocy and fakery of eliminating jobs to give people fake incomes to buy things at fake costs to give AI companies fake profits.

Yeah, but Jon's really arguing that Jobs gives people self-worth. And what happens to society when you take that away from them?

We’re always going to have jobs. As long as people have money, they will want to spend it. Just can’t predict what they’ll be. Most jobs today didn’t exist a few generations ago

I think the A.I. Utopia is that you can have jobs, but as Musk said, "they will be hobbies," since the "utilities" of life will be provided for you.

A.I. will run power plants, farms, water treatment plants, etc., at maximum efficiency, so you won't need a job to live or provide for your family.

The funny part is that they will give you UBI for what? Things.

So, the Star Trek Utopia.

maybe. but types of jobs do disappear.

i was more interested in this/elon's idea of no jobs and AI funding UBI for everyone.....which would mean all of AI's profits which fund that UBIA just come from the UBI they give out.....which is silly.

basically this simpleton's utopia would actually end up being that AI does everything and everything is free for everyone.

but the billionaires don't like that - so even in their utopia for dummies they philosophize a system where they can still have more than all the regular folks do.

Trust, brand, etc is going to have a massively oversized value in the future. Shit, it should now, but in the future it's going to be everything.
I feel like society could respond in one of a couple of ways, but ideally content is no longer kng, quality is king. The hard part will be filtering out the waste.
