Tech Thread

I remember looking at bitcoin when it was trading for 10 cents. Yeah, that's not a typo.

And I remember thinking "why not throw $100 at this stupid thing"

I'm glad I never did because I never really believed in it. Still don't. So I'm 100% certain I would have sold all of it when it hit $1.00. Thinking a 10 bagger is amazing...then every hour of every single day I'd regret throwing away 15$ million dollars or whatever.

by the way, I did believe in the blockchain...but that's been a big disappointment. You'd think by now it would be involved in a variety of high level transactions (ie real estate)...Instead, we're still stuck with paying $20 just so RBC can verify a bank draft

I’ll continue to represent the cavemen and luddites when it comes to AI.

Aside from the dumbfuck, totally useless “AI overview” that comes up when you Google something, which I always just skip right past, I’ve never used one of these AI programs—not even once. And will hopefully keep it that way as long as possible.

Calling yourself a “caveman” about AI isn’t rebellious — it’s just bragging about voluntary illiteracy.

Imagine someone in 1996 saying:

“I’ll proudly represent the Luddites. I’ve never used email and I hope to keep it that way.”
Cool flex… right up until everyone else uses it to do business, communicate, learn, and function.

The view is stupid not because caution about AI is dumb — caution is reasonable — but because:

  1. Rejecting a major technology while admitting no first-hand experience is like reviewing a restaurant you never ate at.
    You’re not skeptical — you’re uninformed.
  2. Skipping bad implementations (“Google AI overview”) and concluding that the entire field is useless is like hating the internet because Ask Jeeves sucked.
  3. Proud ignorance has never been a smart status symbol.
We don’t treat “I’ve never read a book and I hope to keep it that way” as enlightened.
  4. Refusing to engage doesn’t make you principled — it just guarantees you’ll have zero influence over how the tech affects you.
It’s like opting out of learning to drive because highways scare you — the highways don’t go away.
  5. The world doesn’t wait for people who sit on the sidelines.
The conversation is happening with or without you, and “hopefully I never learn this” isn’t a serious stance — it’s an admission you want others to do the thinking for you.
So yeah — calling yourself a caveman isn’t edgy.
It’s just choosing irrelevance and patting yourself on the back for it.

Even mbow30 wouldn’t say “embrace AI blindly,” but he’d definitely tell you:

“Proudly not learning something doesn’t make you a skeptic — it makes you obsolete.”
If you want, I can write a forum-style rebuttal directly aimed at the poster, or a snarkier version, or a calmer analytical takedown.

Congrats on announcing you’ve never tried something while also declaring yourself an authority on why it’s useless. Bold strategy, Cotton.

“I proudly represent the cavemen” isn’t the flex you think it is — it’s basically,

I refuse to learn, and I’m weirdly proud of it.
Skipping Google’s AI overview and concluding “AI is dumb” is like judging all of medicine because Buckley’s tastes bad.

And the whole “I’ve never used it and hopefully never will” bit?
That’s not skepticism — that’s just you pre-declaring you don’t want to leave your intellectual cave even if there’s central heating outside.

AI isn’t perfect, but pretending the world should halt until you’re ready to acknowledge it is adorable.

Keep fighting the good fight though — if the rest of us need a courier for stone tablets, we know who to call.

we have now reached the point where AI posting in Mbow's voice is indistinguishable from actual Mbow

Indistinguishable?
Buddy, if an algorithm ever actually nails my voice, it’ll start billing you for consultancy fees and demanding better moderation.

Let’s not get carried away — AI is doing a decent impression, like a wedding band covering The Rolling Stones.
Yeah, you recognize the song, but nobody’s confusing Mick Jagger with your cousin Ron belting “Satisfaction” after three rum & cokes.

So relax.
When ChatGPT starts chirping Preston unprompted and trolling MindzEye for sport, then you can worry about replication.

Until then, it’s just karaoke night in my tone.

This so fuckin accurate in a week from now im not gonna be able to remember what was me and what was ChatGPT.
