but i just don't get this AI stuff. makes no sense to me.
yes maybe i'm a googling pro and my one great skill is synthesizing lots of information for the relevant stuff, so i'm not the target market, but still, i just don't see it.
even if it does help people produce stuff that they otherwise wouldn't, we're just going to end up with people letting their AIs talk to each other and nobody gets anywhere.
my buddy at google uses AI for everything and he shows me all the top shit they're working on and....it's really fucking underwhelming. like there's some cool stuff with photo/video recognition but i don't even know if you can ever trust it. He used it to plan a boys weekend at his cottage and it gave us a perfectly ok set of meals and activities and like....sure i guess? not for me.
actually i have another buddy who has me semi-convinced of a very good use for it - using AI to suss out an area for land investments using all local legal approvals and active legislation to predict the likelihood of certain cheap areas being approved for lucrative development within a certain timeframe.
that would be something complex enough that I could see AI being able to sort for me, and then me following up and confirming all the legal details.
but of course once everyone starts doing that then it all gets priced in anyways.
