Didn't read the article but my current understanding is that theyre all looking to build their own Linux distros and apps.. .which is interesting on so many fronts.

By itself that's a direct assault on the windows/iOS binary that most of the world is locked into and that's good on its own. The more development that goes into Linux, the more likely it is that Linux ends up popular enough for devs to make it more user friendly, bring in more support for games, better apps, etc.
