AgreedBrian Bickell should have won the Masterton.
I thought Carolina was already loaded on defense?
I guess maybe they're lacking right-handed defensemen?
Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what Vegas gets for TVR. Should give a reasonable idea what they'd be asking for Miller.
So they'd have exposed better players than Dumba and Manson?
Certainly wouldn't have been worse players or they'd have protected these two.

Hanifin, Faulk, Pesce, Slavin, TVR .... wonder if one of the previous top-4 is the new odd man out...
agreed.
and I really don't care for any of these depth guys.
legit top-4 guys like demers and vatanen interest me, but even then that's a bit of a capitulation to not getting a top dog.
Could see JVR heading to the Canes to play with his brother. Lots of interesting defencemen on the Hurricanes.
I don't see how adding an almost 30-year old pending FA makes any sense for the Canes given their core.
Actually, it doesn't make a shred of sense.
The only thing that's going to reignite that fanbase is if they put together a sustainably good team.Meh, they need to make the playoffs and have spent the last few years loading up on young assets. I could see them wanting to cash in on some of them to get some W's and reignite that fan base. The TVR deal makes one of their young D expendable for help up front and pairing him with his brother greatly increases their chances of signing JVR long-term.

That's why Francis has been following the same patient, build-through-youth approach that the Leafs have. That's why they parted ways with Eric Staal.
I just can't see them pulling a U-turn on that strategy now to trade for pending UFA JVR, and then signing 29 year-old JVR to a hefty long-term deal.
