I don’t even get how that’s even what you’d focus on if you wanted to go full rebuild though. Like even if that was his plan, I don’t think it makes much sense.

Is trading a 22 year old who just had a breakout season, signed a long term extension and followed that up by increasing his points total really a blow it up move
 
Feel like it’s just trading him for a bunch of magic beans you hope might be a Knies.

He’s the kind of guys GMs are going to like, maybe a little too much, so you can justify moving him in a deal for a stud D or something but that move doesn’t make any sense for where we are. And Matthews definitely walks, yeah? Knies for futures?

Clearly his thought process, if you even want to give him the credit of calling it that, is that he gave them a grittensity coach and added a bunch of grittensity and leaderbeans to the roster and it didn’t work.

Ergo, the problem was the core and the solution was to blow it up while leaving him and Brooby in place.

Just underlines again the degree to which it’s flat-out insane Pelley left him in charge to manage the deadline.
