The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

We haven't even seen the trades and UFA signings. All we know is that McKenna is almost certainly added and we should expect much better health than we got in a season that was absolutely disastrous in terms of injuries. We know the coach will be better because it's impossible to be worse. And we have a ton of cap room and can safely assume at least a couple of relatively bigger names will be added. We should be getting our best defensive dman Tanev back after he missed the whole year, Knies not playing hurt all year, and Matthews hopefully returning to form after a long layoff.

We're going to be a lot better and firmly in the top 6, though I'm expecting top 4 or higher.

To be fair,the coaching can get worse. Roy and Babcock come to mind

Though it would be funny to go to the Bruins and ask them what they'd be willing to pay for us to give them the pick instead of the Flyers. Maybe toss us a 2nd round pick for "future considerations"?
 
Worth noting that in June 2024, Marek was arguing with EF that Celebrini should go back to the NCAA for one more year instead of making the jump to the Sharks (Friedman said he was pro ready and should make the jump).

Most of these talking heads don't seem to get how much it's shifted to be a young man's league over the last 10 yrs. Peak offensive performance is generally 22-24 now.
