Yeah, this is pretty clearly like the Tanev deal. From the start, there's a "nudge nudge, wink wink" understanding between team and player that the final two years of the deal at minimum will be spent on sunny Robidas Island and exist only for the purpose of bringing down the cap hit.

Both deals are also structured in a signing-bonus-heavy way that makes a buyout pretty much impossible.

Gotta say I’m not sure I’ve ever really heard something like this reported about a new coaching hire before who is seemingly a decent enough guy? I kinda wonder if this kinda thing would be said about a non-Chayka hire.
