Yeah, if the reporting is accurate and Chayka is one of the 2-3 finalists at this point…if we dodge the Chayka bullet and end up with another GM that is even halfway competent at the end of this process, it’ll only be through sheer dumb luck on the part of Pelley and Ed Rogers.

Because having Chayka ranked this highly is just catastrophic levels of incompetence and poor judgement.

Totally expecting the worst possible outcome given who's running the show at MLSE now (Rogers/Pelley) BUT what if the rumours of it being some kind Game of Thrones (Season 4) internal 4D leak test are true and that the real finalists are not even known yet? I have a hard time believing that the top candidate this search firm has produced is Chayka, unless they specifically want to find the perfect puppet. If Berube survives it pretty much confirms the puppet theory but we'll know soon enough. I have 80% confidence that Pelley & Ed Rogers are arrogant enough to think they can competently run hockey ops with some kind of puppet GM.
