He also said he thinks Chayka may not have full power here and essentially Mats is at the top and will have final say on everything. And not everyone would have gone for that, but Chayka was obviously interested and may have felt that this was his best opportunity to get back in the league, and also he may feel that being under a legend like Mats is a good place to be. So basically the LGM thesis.
 
Mats is such an enigma at this point. Since hes retired hes stepped away from anything hockey related outside of a few appearances so we really have limited insight into his philopshy of how a team should be built.

Coming from the Swedish system does give me some hope that he understands the importance of speed, puck possession and puck moving D though I feel he still has a taste for truculence from his Quinn days
 
former players want their teams to play like that did. Berube thinks everyone should just dig in.

Sundin probably thinks everyone should just take the puck, bring it to the net and dare everyone to take it from you.
 
Mats did write a book and professed his love for and stressed the importance of toughness and fighters and stuff. But yeah that's all I've got. In Sweden they develop their players to be hard and strong on the puck so 101 is probably right.

The media might not know anything but that’s a lot of smoke about Pelley looking to the early 2000s Leafs players for guidance. i don’t know what guidance Tie Domi brings to a search for new management.
