Decent read here. It really sounds like that if Gillis is actually interested in and accepts the Leafs job, he feels confident enough that they will let him do things his way, which would be the best news of all and ease all concerns of future meddling up top.
The article also goes through Vancouver's situation before he stepped in and it's extremely similar to where the Leafs currently are. Not that it would take a brilliant mind to turn the Leafs into a solid team next year, but I like the idea of a guy with a proven track record as opposed to a guy with "experience" being a middling GM in a league full of morons for a decade+.
It's a no brainer hire I think, I'm just not fully trusting that Rogers would be in love with the personality. He's Masai-esque in many ways: arrogant, demanding, bit of a control freak. But I think it's what they need. No more Dubas esque baby back bitch fake nerd GMs.
