I hadn't heard any plans to send Altshuller back to juniors for an overage junior year. If not Charlotte than he's Florida Everblades bound...I can't see him playing an overage junior season, there is no point in that at this stage.

I didn't catch they had retained Muse on an AHL contract until you brought that up Boardwork. As long as Altshuller is seeing a lot of pucks that is fine, although I really would rather have had him in Charlotte. Considering though that Cam Ward could get hurt again at any time or run out of town I suppose it is smart to have Muse safeguarding Charlotte so we don't end up throwing Altshuller into the fire there if McIntyre has to be in Raleigh for extended periods of time.

I think that is what they expect to happen. Altshuller goes to Florida as their clear number 1 with tons of workload. Charlotte has two guys that are proven at the AHL level and that the org, particularly with MacIntyre, is probably confident in having as an NHL backup with injuries.

I don't think they want to go through 7+ goalies again in Charlotte like last year....and as long as Rick Dipietro never wears a Checkers or any Canes related uniform again, that will be a good thing
 
Yeah, the important thing for Althshuller is that he plays a ton of games. I'd really prefer he be assigned to Florida to make sure he's getting a bunch of ice time rather than splitting time or backing up in Charlotte.
 
If cward can relearn to stop a puck, then expect khabby to be trade bait and Mac to back him up.

I get a pretty strong read from Peters that he's going to name a starter and then run with it. I think it's Ward trying to earn a job here, not Khudobin ... who seems to be carrying on from where he left off. As is Ward ironically enough. Ward was the one with something to prove.
 
I fully expect that Khudobin is going to seize the #1 role in pre-season, then solidify that role soon after in the regular season. By November Cam will be in full sulk mode and Ronnie will being looking to do everything he can to dump the guy on someone else for just about anything while being willing to eat half of his salary and take a bad goalie contract (or another bad contract) back in return. If we are lucky Ronnie won't have to trade away another asset to entice someone to take on Ward and half his salary. Even luckier would be not having to take another horrible contract that extends past this season back for a player we don't want or need.

Khabby hasn't played but 30 minutes. Cward hasn't played at all. Yeah, I know, he was in net for half a game but that couldn't be called playing.
So, why did peters keep Mac in net for the entire game?

He was pitching a shutout at the half-way point, plus Peters noted that the (Bellemore) penalty flurry began just about when they might have considered making the change and he hated to do so in the middle of that.

After that, I'm figuring they just decided to see what the kid had in him.

Forslund said it best, if it was 8-10 weeks you band-aid the loss from within, if its surgery and four months you find another player via trade. I fully expect Francis to make a move to counter the loss. I'm not saying a front line player, but a center from another team that can play some of those minutes down the middle.
 
I still think this team will try to band aid Jordan's absence. Now would be a terrible time to make a bad trade out of desperation.

If you're going to tank a season, this sounds like the one to tank, TWO great prospects in the draft! ;)

Unload Eric, cam, etc and aim for a 30 point season!
 
Agreed, cmaleski. Time to think long-term, and trading away assets for a band-aid solution when we can develop (for once) from within instead, is not productive toward building much-needed depth.

I get that an almost 2C now could easily be the possibly missing 3C later...but, again, we're not going anywhere. So now is not the time to be spending assets we barely have...particularly in a deep draft year.
 
I watched Lindholm a bit last night and he was skating through checks in the corners. He has the strength to start #2 center.
Now for khabby, cward and Mac. Cward is untradeable. Mac is the up and comer. Khabby would get the most bang for the buck. So, if cward is showing anything and Mac continues, look for a khabby trade. Maybe for a center.
