OT: The News Thread

I think people fail to realize just how ridiculously spoiled we are as Canadians to live in a country where something as trivial as the above "scandals" are newsworthy. That's honestly a huge positive and credit to our political system that such minor, boring, irrelevant material is considered worth mentioning by the Fifth Estate.

How about adscam?

Think about it, the Afghan detainee nonsense was a non-issue. The stimulus money has been flowing to government friendly ridings since the dawn of politics. In-and-out was chump change and clever accounting, but really a non-issue as well.

None of these stories stick to the Conservatives because they lack substance. They are nothing stories. No money is being stolen, no one is getting hurt.

I figured you would claim something under a Liberal govt was a scandal whereas something under your party wasn't.

A few dollars spent to help save Canada in the panic after October 30, 1995 and given to Liberal members is really no different than the stimulus money going to reform/conservative ridings.

Your boys spent almost as much on creating a fake haven/security for the G20 summit.

They don't stick to your boys because conservative voters will vote that way regardless, hell even if Harper grew a tail and devil horns, he would win every seat in Alberta.

"Save Canada" my ass. You keep claiming that when there is no evidence to suggest that the money directed to Liberal organizations did anything to help the No vote in 1995.

It was colossally stupid to have an event of that magnitude in downtown Toronto where all of the socialists and anarchists could congregate together in one massive neo-Marxist circle jerk.

But that's because there are strong rumours that it was a test of potential NWO security measures in the event that the public needs to be detained. A trial run if you will. And that has nothing to do with the Tories. That tale goes much bigger than a national government.

It's been corrupt and illegal since the dawn of time. The level of pork involved in the frivolous G8 spending up north was crazy. Everyone involved knew about it and were basically facepalming and waiting for the whistle to be blown.

Saying something's been happening since the dawn of time is about the weakest excuse possible, and you've been using it repeatedly to defend the conservatives lately. To take it to it's logical extreme, child molestation and murder have been happening since the dawn of time. They're still illegal and worthy of punishment. Giving your riding random stuff whenever you have excuse has been happening, in some places, since the dawn of time and it's been deserving of scorn and punishment every single time.

Anyways, I'm gonna go roofy the chick on my date tonight. It's been happening since the dawn of pharmaceuticals, so no big deal.

Money was STOLEN, count. Stolen. Given, via contracts, to Liberal friendly companies under the guise of national unity. Don't sugar coat it, an investigation and inquiry found that to be the case.

Airbus is another scandal - and alas, under a Conservative government.

But none of these "scandals" that seem to linger around the Harper Conservatives have any merit. They are nothing stories.

Money didn't goto "ridings" and then get pocketed, it went into infrastructure. The only "issue" with that is that more money went to Conservative ridings than others...that might be unseemly, but money still went to the people and nothing was pilfered.

What a typically stupid post from our resident teamster.

It's been happening since the dawn of politics, and has always been looked down upon, but it is not illegal. Money is not being stolen or lining peoples pockets, it is being invested into the communities - only disproportionately.

Chretien put a lot of money into the people of Shawinigan.

I don't see what's unethical about supporting the community that you represent or grew up in. It's only natural to want to give back to the places in which you lived.
