OT: Movies/TV Shows

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

I know I went on about it a few weeks back, but Tom's performance for Kubrick in 'Eyes Wide Shut' was really spectacular.....easily one of his best performances to date, imo.

I think Tom's best performance was Magnolia. Shut is great as it was the principal role... but he really did a great job as that sleazy motivational speaker, and then a man just dieing for his fathers love and respect.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

I thoughtCruise was pretty amazing in Maguire or whatever it was called. When he played the sports agent.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

are we really waxing poetic about the great thespian Tom Cruise?

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Cruise was good in Rain Man. Of course Hoffman got all the kudos because playing offbeat or disabled characters stands out more (but is actually easier)

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Saw another 30 in 30 last night. This one was about some guy that convinced a rich dude to spend over $4 Million to buy the original rules of basketball and to donate them to Kansas U.

It's funny, back in 88', 89', everyone was going crazy over Hoffman's performance. watch it today and you realize Cruise had a tougher role and was better. (Hoffman is an amazing actor, but gave many far better performances.

In fact, the best 'tard performance from 1988' is actually Tom Hulce from Dominic and Eugene-Not Hoffman in Rain Man.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

yeah... kubrick, PT, speilberg... has he worked with tarantino? scorcese?

He worked with Scocesse in Color of Money. Not yet with Tarantino. He also worked with Ridley and Tony Scott, Oliver Stone, Coppola, Michael Mann.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

yes yes...

The best Tard performance though for me is Leo in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" I don't know what it is about that movie, but when it's on TV I kind of have to watch it.

Rainman is/was flucking annoying. Same with Penn in I am Sam. guhh. Penn did look like he had down's though. no make up required

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

D D Lewis was annoying with his left foot.
