OT: American Politics

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Unfortunate timing for Harper that the newspaper business is booming so strongly right now, which has obviously led to the Toronto Star's massive influence on the outcome.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Is it possible a bunch of Shy Tory ballots were simply too bashful to shake out of the ballot box?

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Not quite the decimation of the Tories that Chretien lead, but I guess when the Tory ads said "Just not ready," they were clearly speaking of themselves.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

This is all on the CPC. This is way less about voting a party in as voting a regime out.
I do think Trudeau deserves credit for a great campaign, but yeah, this election is in very large part a self-inflicted gunshot to the head by the Conservatives.

This is a perfect way for Harper to go off into the history books.

Amazing influence.
Mulcair losing in his own riding. Oliver losing in his.
Can't wait for Harper's resignation.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Lol. A Justin Trudeau majority. Yuck.

Underwhelming Conservative turn out and an NDP cratering...

As a conservative I'm bummed, as a self-employed individual I'm scared.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Further salt in the wound for the NDP: Olivia Chow has been defeated, and the NDP is even trailing in Jack Layton's old seat in Toronto-Danforth (which Layton's replacement won with 59% of the vote).

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Chow down. Only 22% of the vote in a riding she has owned forever.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

61 elected, 120 leading....

When do I start getting shocked every time I see this number go higher? Grenier had the Liberal max pegged at 185

Quebec went in a wave again, and I'm sure that nobody on earth expected it to be a red one.
