Marc Bergevin: Post Mortem 2016/17 season

Re: Marc Bergevin: Post Mortem today 16h00

Where's Radulov in that group? He's 31. We're old by today's standards.

further urgency to go "all in" before mother nature imposes it's rebuild/regime change on the current clowns

Re: Marc Bergevin: Post Mortem today 16h00

My crazy lineup involves moving Lehkonen to centre (where he played some in Swedish Elite) and signing Ships and Kovalchuk. Julien loves Lehkonen's 200 ft game so why not? Radulov will do most of the puck carrying on that line. Then trade Chuckie + SFB +? for a good d-man that can play with Weber.

Radu--Lehkonen--Kovalchuk
Gallagher--Shipppy-- Max
Byron -- Danault -- Shaw
who -- the -- f uck cares

Weber - ChuckieBait
Petry--Markov
Chevy -- Davidson

62 said he didn't like playing center. Kovalchuk is old. And I doubt Shippy signs here, and, apparently he and Dadanov are a package deal.

Re: Marc Bergevin: Post Mortem today 16h00

Replace Markov with Sergachev and ADD Radulov the average age of this core is 26 only!

Re: Marc Bergevin: Post Mortem today 16h00

I don't think he's a buffoon (although he dresses like one), but I get the feeling that he sees himself as much smarter than everyone else, and he is always right, even when he's wrong. Today's presser proved it when he seemed to blame the players....well, cannot blame the players when you give Max a center like DD, Dano, Pleks...and let your coach play Chuckie on the 3rd-4th line in a must-win game
He dresses modern. Krust you and I cant get away with but he can

Re: Marc Bergevin: Post Mortem today 16h00

If Shaw, Emelin, and Pleks are gone, he can fit those guys.

Easier said than done though.

If we sweeten the pot Vegas could possibly take Shaw. They need to hit cap floor too.

I think pleks would be easier to trade with only one year left on his deal.

Flip Emelin for a bag of pucks.

Tell markov in order to get some more talent and get him a run at a cup he needs a pay cut. 3.5-4 mil.

My crazy lineup involves enhanced cloning:

Bossy-Gretzky-Howe
Jagr-Lemieux-Messier
Selanne-Francis-Sakic
Dionne-Lindros-Esposito

Orr-Robinson
Coffey-Bourque
Lidstrom-Harvey

Roy
Brodeur

Scotty Bowman as coach.

Science.

First on the ice and Last off the ice at practice? You mean like he is in nearly every practice. He is always one of the guys staying later. I don't know where this comment from Sal is coming from.

Nor do I know where this "snorting lines at Flygin" is coming from? Sal doesn't live in Montreal so he didn't see it himself, I'm not seeing any reputable journalist report it. What are we doing, repeating some rumor monger on twitter or what?
I know the owner quite well, Galchenyuk & Beaulieu have serious issues....as do many NHLers since the drug of choice has morphed from just booze.

Gonna stop you there...Arturi went like 20+ games without a goal, but still played..............Chukie goes 2 games without a goal, and then gets 4th line treatment.

Chuckie is not a support player like Arturi.....he's a top line guy, 30-goal scorer....you gotta play these guys top minutes ALL THE TIME for them to develop. Arturi can develop playing 3rd line minutes...

Chuckie is like any other sniper......you gotta play him often, and keep playing him until he learns.

MTL started him on the wing his first 2 years, then gave him center position, but switched him to wing the moment he had a down. He finished strong and scored 30 goals last season, but then again we didn't keep him at center this year.

The blame is massively on the Habs' side......don't you think Chuckie wants to play and succeed....what effort should he put in when he's being asked to be a center, then winger, then scrub on 4th line.....in practices, they often didn't include him in the faceoff drills....and he won't improve faceoffs unless he gets lots of them during real games, not practices.

When you have a kid like Chuckie, you give him space and allow him to develop.....you don't restrict him. This isn't 1970's hockey anymore....
Julien didn't dick around 22-yr old Bergeron or 21-yr old Krejci, could it be Galchenyuk's not all that?

Let's agree to disagree on philosophical differences - I'm a staunch believer in meritocracy, the cream always rises despite the odds.

As I tell my kids u are there to be seen not heard from, earn a full faculty scholarship to Harvard & u'll have earned the right to be heard, until that day.....nada.

The nhl does drug testing. Unlike the nfl they dont suspend for marijuana but they do suspend for cocaine.

Are they lucky not to fail?

Is the problem not as severe as you are making it out to be?

Why are these guys not suspended?

Why is it every time we lose there's a drug problem?

Because it's MTL, hockey players are gods, liberal mentality towards sex & drugs, and it's the unchallenged hip/cool towns for teenagers and 20-somethings in Canada. Some grow out of it, as they get older/move to another environment (Chelios etc..), others continue playing but stagnate (Corson, Higgins etc..), and others not so happy ending (Kordic etc..). No different than football players in many rabid US markets.
A receipe for disaster if ur the Habs management - which is why I'm shocked they've never been a leader in coming up with a means/process to help themselves in a cap era where ur dependent on young kids to achieve any type of success.

I was just going to post this. Be a leader not a follower. The Canadiens should do everything they can to insulate and prepare their players. All players not just the kids.

That being said... we don't currently. So, what the hell are all of our "character" vets doing to help? Hell even a beer league team captain prevents his boys from getting smashed before a big game.

It's not that I doubt NHLers do drugs. It's the fact that we only hear about it during losing streaks, missing the playoffs and losing a playoff series.

Never during a win streak or playoff series win.

Years of fat cat syndrome...Habs don't lead at anything on or off the ice, except the opening festivities to games / special occasions

BTW - this conversation has gone off on a tangent, I'm sure Patrick Kane is no saint, Galchenyuk's issues as we saw in the playoffs are driven primarily by lack of desire & willingness to engage. If you don't show hunger why should anyone give u an opportunity to do more?
