The official NFL thread

Cause QB is forever and always the most important thing to draft and despite Fournette and Zeke of recent memory, RB is still the least important, you can find a good one in other rounds

Cleveland is in a position to take Barkley and then a QB at 4. That's my point.

Also just heard on Sirius, Adam Schefter tweeted :

"Browns continue to keep the decision on their No. 1 pick a secret, but there is a mounting belief from HCs and GMs around the league that Cleveland will take Baker Mayfield. "

They also said on Sirius that vegas now had Mayfield as the best odds to go #1.

Baker Mayfield (QB) -200
Sam Darnold (QB) +100
Josh Allen (QB) +650
Saquon Barkley (RB) +1600
Josh Rosen (QB) +3300
Bradley Chubb (DE) +10000

I see the Steelers going either Secondary with Justin Reid S with the first pick, or snag Mason Rudolph to groom for when BB hangs them up.

Second pick SHOULD address the gaping hole left by Ryan Shazier with either Jerome Baker or Uchenna Nwosu.

Cleveland will probably get Barkley at 4 anyway.

I think Mayfield may be the right pick. Statistically he is. Still not sure how that translates to the NFL as opposed to hockey. But if Mayfield was 6'4 there wouldn't be a debate IMO.

I just can't quite buy in to NFL analytics (particularly college to pro correlations) like I can in baseball, hockey or basketball....PFF Football Outsiders, Dan Orlovsky, etc have all talked me in to Baker enough that I'll be happy with him at three. But I'd still prefer Rosen or Darnold.

Given how much the Jets have dove in to analytics in recent years tho, and that they spent a ton of funds on extra scouting a year ago, specifically to prepare to take a QB in this class.....I get why Macc moved to three. Darnold, Rosen & Baker are on a whole other level, and you're right to pay to guarantee one of them.

As much as I love Darnold....I also have to concede that OC Jeremy Bates likely prefers Rosen or Baker, as they're both tailor made for his schemes...

Man, this smoke that Baker is going #1 is unreal.....insiders really seem convinced it's a done deal.

He's now a -500 betting favorite. (Darnold topped out at -270, I believe?)

That might change everything for NYG, i think they like Darnold.

If CLE figured out they can get Baker at 1 and Barkley at 4, good on them, even if i lean Darnold and Chubb

I didn't even want to let myself daydream about this happening.....have loved Darnold for 2+ years, never ever thought this would be plausible.

What a legendary trade up that turned out to be.
