OT: American Politics

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

It's just flat out wrong & dangerous that Trump met with Putin alone.

Just wrong & dangerous.

Pompeo, Mattis or Bolton should have insisted that somebody sit in on the meeting. And they should have resigned if Trump said no.

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

Russia attacks America. Trump blames America. Republicans don't say shit.

Terrible.

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

Trump asked just now who he believes, his own intelligence agencies or Putin.

He won't answer. But he speaks more favorably of Putin. TRUMP WON'T STAND WITH HIS OWN COUNTRY.

That's it. That should be the final straw. It is for me.

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

Look, I'm no big deal, but today is the final straw for me. I will never support Trump again. If that makes me a NeverTrumper, so be it.

I am a tea party conservative, that will never change. But Trump was a traitor to this country today. That must not be accepted.

Speak out.

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

What you saw today was "collusion" on the world stage.

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

Trump was a traitor today. I cannot & will not support a traitor.

No decent American should.

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

I've always tried to balance my personal distaste for Trump with my support for much of the agenda. The good Trump/bad Trump thing.

After 2day, that dance is over. The bad Trump now clearly outweighs any policy benefits.

He is a danger to this country. I can't straddle anymore.

Joe Walsh @WalshFreedom

You saw a man today both ill-equipped to be President, and a man clearly not loyal to this country's best interests.

Gang, this is a crisis.

Americans of all political stripes must speak out against him.

Oh and why bother? To get another 4 years of Trump that’s why. Pretty sure they’d prefer that more than a GOP house.

GOP house might be the only thing standing between Trump and impeachment. I know it's unlikely, but there are a lot of (R) senators that aren't fans of Shitler. It definitely raises the specter of what I said after the election. If Trump becomes poisonous enough for the Republican brand (and he is absolutely the face of the brand), they might bail on him in the face of impeachment.

It wouldn't even take a full exodus either.

Still best to prepare for the worst.

Trump 2024

I'm pretty sure Mueller can prove that Trump laundered Russian money for years. No other way to explain how the self professed "king of credit" suddenly started to buy fancy real estate and golf clubs with cold hard cash.

Without a direct link impeachment will never happen. Ever.

You asked what I think? I think Trump knew but "didn't want to know". I've had employees in the past make moves that I had no clue about that turned out wrong. One I even had to report to the cops (years ago). Do organizations have rogue members? Yes. Do I believe this is that? Not really. My take is he surrounded himself with people recommended by his billionaire friends... who happened to be Russian.

The optics are horrible but ultimately it boils down to law. If they can't prove he broke any, he walks. Wouldn't be the first time a guilty man went free or an innocent man got jailed.

I would like to see hearings on it but the GOP controls the committees and any hearing would be more Kabuki Theater leaving people even more disgusted. After what I witnessed with Stzrok I don't know if I would even bother watching. Meh, who am I kidding, I still would.

Irrelevant until Trump is out of office.

One last thing, when playing with the big boys you need to go by what you can prove. They all live in the heavy grey and skirt laws to get ahead with this in mind. What can they prove?

This is America, get used to it.

Voters voted in Agent Grey, not Orange. That man should only wear grey.

If he becomes politically poisonous to the Republicans, they will magically start talking about the 25th, which he has pretty clearly breached a pile of times.

I think this is a pretty naive take, but fair enough.

I don't think that's what it's going to boil down to at all. He will pretty clearly move on the investigation if it gets too close (which it will), how the political body moves in reaction to that will determine the future of your country imo.

The GOP is pretty ****ing complicit at this point.

Well, this depends. Legally, I think a whole lot can be proven. But laws have stopped mattering in Washington. I don't think these guys are living in grey areas of the law the way that you're suggesting. They depend on blatant political corruption to avoid the sword.

Germany's foreign minister said Monday that the European Union could "no longer completely rely on the White House," echoing Chancellor Angela Merkel's veiled criticism of US President Donald Trump a year ago and amplifying a war of words between the two allies.

Heiko Maas' comments came a few hours after Trump described the European Union as a "foe" that has "taken advantage" of the US over trade and NATO, and on the same day as a bilateral summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In an interview with the Funke media group, the Social Democrat politician said the US President's statement on the EU "unfortunately shows once again how wide the political Atlantic has become since Donald Trump has been in office."
The EU's relationship with the US must change if it is to continue, Maas said, insisting that this could be achieved only with a "self-confident and sovereign Europe."

Great. Now instead of focusing on the internal divisions that exist and would slowly drag the EU down, they will now simply unify to act with the USA, and without Trump.

Just great.

BREAKING: Maria Butina, deputy of Russian Senator Alexander Torshin, and woman who asked Trump question about sanctions in late 2015 has just been arrested and charged with being an agent of Russia.

Amy Siskind @Amy_Siskind
In Week 86, @mcclatchy reported Mueller’s team likely had the info on who gave the $21MM of dark money via the @NRA to Trump’s campaign. The arrest of Russia’s Butina, who worked with Torshin, means Russia. It is illegal for foreigners to donate to a US election. $ trail got them

It’s also quite possible that there was no conspiracy but Trump knows there’s something really bad in the closet (which is why he hasn’t released his tax returns). He keeps vehemently denying “collusion” but isn’t denying anything else. It’s not out of the realm of reason to think he’s more afraid of something else coming out. If Putin knows about whatever that skeleton could be, it’s leverage and no bueno.

"oh so the GOP and nra were in bed with Russian spies and Russian money? whadeya gonna do about it? go to war or something?"
