Does it bother you at all that this movie will be idolized by the incels of the world?

Not picking a fight, just curious.

Society sucks, people suck, you lose your last real human connections and then one can start to lash out at society itself, sometimes in violent ways?

I'm a little concerned that this film will be to incels what V for vendetta was for anarchists
 
TIFF note:
Synchronic= Average sci-fi film about a drug and time travel. From the directors of The Endless (Which I thought was much better).
"A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood": First 5 minutes I know I am watching Hanks as Mr. Rogers. After that, I forget it's Hanks. He is fantastic in a role that is more difficult than he will likley get credit for. Cliched at times, but very touching and enjoyable.

And as TIFF wraps up, as predicted, Joker is being called the rallying cry for incels.

It doesn't. Incels have a lot of content they could clutch on to. This one just happens to be fresh

While I don't subscribe to the video games causes violence theory, I do think TV and Film have a effect on vulnerable people.

For example, there has been a study linking increased rates of suicide tied to young people watching 13 reasons why,a netflix show exploring why a young woman felt the need to kill herself to get back at people.

Researchers at Nationwide Children's Hospital measured monthly and annual rates of suicide reported to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2013 through 2017 among people ages 10 to 64. They then divided them into age groups.

The month immediately following the release of the show had a suicide rate of 0.57 per 100,000 10- to 17-year-olds, the highest rate of the five-year study period in this age group. The nine months after the release saw an extra 195 deaths by suicide in this age group than would have otherwise been expected from seasonal patterns alone, according to the study, published Monday in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

So 13 reasons why lead to more teens killing themselves.

The joker is the classic incel, society is against him, his life sucks, and he loses all human connection. He responses with violence and is cheered for it.

Now think school shooters who feel like they cannot connect with society, or women. The only group they can associate with are other incels online in places like 8chan or reddit. These groups preaching violence against their peers and women.

And now the joker film comes out, pretty much having the joker live their story and being called a masterpiece.

That's sketchy shit in my opinion.

Prostitutes are expensive because legal troubles are part of their risk equation. According to the google machine, one of the "window" prostitutes in Amsterdam goes for about 50 euro (~75 cad) for 15-20 minutes and a private escort is in the 225 cad range.

75 bucks is a pretty achieveable number for the vast majority of these guys, and they're not lasting longer than 20 minutes anyway.

Will their still be anti social nutters? Yeah absolutely, it will just be a much, much smaller group than currently exists.

I think them congregating in online groups is a uniquely north american thing. The whole not getting laid thing though, I think is also pretty common in both Asia and the middle. Asian men tend to suffer in silence and turn to some weird shit (weirdo japanese culture is basically pure escapism from not getting laid) and I don't even want to get started on arabic culture and their approach to sex.

I also don't think making a joker movie idolizing incels is the best thing for 2019
