STM Packages

Speaking of STs, any scuttlebutt on where sales were this year? Sara Civ indicated back in May they were way up at that point but I haven't seen anything since then.
I've been told that sales of season ticket packages have continued to trend upward throughout the summer. Honestly, you'd expect that given the kind of summer the Hurricanes have had. Good buzz at the draft, a quick end to the Aho drama, a couple of quality free agent signings ... even the stuff that might have been a downer (like trading away deHaan) kind of came and went quickly. All of that has been good for business.

I can tell you as someone who is a full STM looking to add 2 tickets for the opener minutes after they were opened for STMs, there were very few tickets available. That means to me a LOT of season ticket plans were sold.

OK, you shamed me into going onto the Ticket******* website and checking it out. Opening night is almost sold out, and definitely more "resale" than "standard admission". But looking at Ottawa on Nov. 11th, you probably get the best picture of full ST packages sold, which to me looks a bit disappointing. On the other hand, you look at games that are months off against the Caps and Pens, and pickings are a bit sparse for those. I HOPE that reflects more on inclusion of those games in flex plans, and not on Caps/Pens fans buying tickets this far in advance.

I can assure you that those were flex plans. I was looking at those games before tickets went on sale to the general public, and the pickings were already noticeably less than normal for prime games.

Some of the sales are people/brokers who are mostly reselling tickets. So a broker might have bought a 11 game flex plan, picked all prime games, and is reselling those. In theory that is supposed to be against the rules, you are not supposed to sell the majority of your tickets (we actually got a warning about that this year in our STM info), but you will see that is clearly being done.

I got an email from the Canes this morning. The new clear bags that were promised to STM will be available for pickup in the box office lobby starting tomorrow. In addition, full and 22 game STM get an adidas duffel, 11 gamers get an adidas drawstring bag. You’ll need your STM cars to claim the bags. So check your email.

Hmm ... so they actually listened to full STH complaints about that cheap-o drawstring bag they promised as an "incentive" in the spring and got Adidas to donate duffel bags? You're going to have to do more than that to impress me.

I have some old stubs but the one I'm the most nostalgic about is my stub for the final Whalers game. Its a reminder of that afternoon and the tears everyone shared. Apparently those types of memories will no longer include the ticket stub that said 'I was there'. That's a shame to me and I still much prefer having a paper ticket in my hand, but I've been able to manage the new digital only world ok.

Shared this here before, but as much as I actually prefer digital tickets, I am glad we didn’t have them in 2006! These are my “unused” Stanley Cup Finals tickets (unused because I printed out paper versions for use at the games), which were eventually signed by some guy named Rob Brind’Amour, and now hang framed in my office!

I have the same 4 tickets signed by the captain and the 3 alternate captains (Brindy, Wesley, K. Adams, and Stillman.

They are in the same frame with the poster of Brindy lifting the Cup.

Another email from the club this morning on mobile ticket entry procedures.

Andrew,

In preparation for the first Hurricanes game of the 2019-20 Season at PNC Arena, we wanted to send you some helpful information on Mobile Entry. If you have never used it before, rest assured, mobile entry is easy!

As a Hurricanes Season Ticket Member, the tickets within your plan have already automatically been loaded into your online Caniac Account Manager. Your account manager can always be accessed in two different ways:
Visiting Hurricanes.com/AccountManager in your phone’s web browser.
OR
Clicking "Manage My Tickets" within the NHL App (after selecting the Hurricanes as your favorite team)
Once you have successfully logged in, you should see your game tickets and parking passes (if applicable) within your account. Simply click View Barcode and you will be ready to enter the doors!

Helpful Tips
o STM Discount Cards –Your ID Card and STM Badge will not scan for entry, so be sure to utilize your mobile device.
o Save To Passbook – We highly recommend you save your tickets to your Passbook. This will expedite entry to future games and make your tickets more easily accessible.
o Forwarding to Friends – If you plan to enter separately, or plan on separating from others in your group for the game, we recommend simply forwarding them their individual ticket(s) so they can always access their tickets for the game. This is a simple 2 step process within your Account Manager, under “Forward Tickets”

What about from Ticketmaster, Stubhub, etc? There was always the option to print paper tickets. Has this gone away too?

How do you get in if you don't own a smart phone?
The Canes use Ticketmaster as a distribution partner, so I'm fairly certain you can print a bard coded ticket from their site. You can't through the mobile app tho ... I think CPU only.

Don’t forget, they switched to near field communications, so they’re not even scanning in a barcode anymore. I don’t know how StubHub would work but I’m pretty sure there won’t be any paper ticket capability through Ticketmaster’s resale site. You can still get a paper ticket at the box office but it has a chip embedded in it to scan upon entry.

Ugh ... forgot that. Yeah ... we're all screwed if we're looking for paper tickets. Again, if they actually start doing this for State games with all the older Wolves, there will be blood in the streets. Really thin blood.

Gotta admit, it’s a good deal that you can trade these preseason games for “real” games. Bagged tomorrow’s game and could still get a couple of great seats for the season opener.
