OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

It's a really difficult question to answer. As many experts said in the beginning, the lockdown really only slows the curve so there isn't a massive spike in the beginning, keeping hospitals from getting overwhelmed.

There definitely isn't enough money to keep this going indefinitely.

We need an effective treatment, and fast. I guess we also should remember that while it feels like a year it's only been about 6 weeks.

Another sign of hope is that countries like South Korea, Singapore and China (maybe) have managed to keep it under control after the initial outbreak.

How do 5 clubs = 7200 people and how did they not figure that'd be a bad idea in a pandemic?

Lot of pent up partying.

I suspect we will see more stories like this. People haven't left their house for any kind of entertainment in almost two months. The minute any kind of fun presents itself you will see a bunch of people jump at the opportunity. Exhibit A - people signing up to go on cruises in August.

South Korea has reason to be confident in their ability to trace and lock down. I doubt it will get far. Having said that, large group gathering should be banned until better interventions are available. They're not critical economically.

Good luck finding 7200 drunk clubbers though.

You can probably find them all at the same clubs this weekend.
Probably all their phones are tracked. Huge public notices, mass neighborhood testing, payment tracking. They can do lots. They don't need to get all of them. We're kinda 3rd world compared to SK, Singapore.

We may be 3rd world compared to them in privacy invasion but I think we should try our best to keep it that way. You go down a slippery slope when you start to get into payment and phone tracking.
