Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

It may be subtle but having the ability to carry the extra players with the club basically bails out terrible GMs yet again. Vegas would have needed to make another move for the AP deal.

It’s true there is some advantage to that, in that you can carry the minimum roster without risking not being able to recall someone in time before having to play short-handed for a game.

But in and of itself, I don’t really see that as a game-changer that’s going to “bail out” teams with serious cap trouble. Especially if they don’t have guys who otherwise would’ve been at the bottom of their 22-23 man roster that are either waiver-exempt, or that they’re comfortable putting on waivers.

Think flames/leafs will be the leaders of the division and should be fun to watch.

Canucks I expect to take a step back. Oilers will keep rebuilding for the next year. Who gives a shit about Winnipeg and Ottawa.

TOR clear #1 and OTT clear #7.

The other 5 in the middle. Though WPG only stays in that group due to goaltending.

Wouldn't at all be surprised to see MTL outclass those western teams.

Canadian division is going to be awesome. You are essentially guaranteed a great game every single night. Count me in

For me it's

1. Toronto

2. Montreal

3. Calgary
4. Vancouver
5. Winnipeg
6. Edmonton

7. Ottawa

1. Building/Rebuilding a rivalry with the Habs
2. Vancouver, just to hear hughson cry on national TV
3. More Matthews vs McDavid
4/5/6/. The rest
Yeah #1 is my choice too. Need to renew that rivalry. Hopefully the Habs tweaks make it more interesting.

My order would be
Toronto
Edmonton
Vancouver
Winnipeg
Ottawa
Calgary

Montreal will be dueling for the top spot with Toronto should both teams stay healthy.

I agree with Habsy unless the Leafs figure out how to bring it every night. That might happen with Keefe or some maturity but they did swoon under Keefe last season.

Now, I doubt that a superstar would voluntarily sit out a season to help his team out of cap troubles, or that Tampa would choose to play this year without one of the best players in the world.

But how conveniently tidy for Tampa if Kucherov goes on LTIR long enough to solve their cap problems, but comes back in time for the playoffs, when the cap’s no longer an issue.
