Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

They have 2 20g men on the fourth line. 20g guys on the other lines. It’s more than two lines but we’ll once again agree to disagree.

Aren’t you tired of pumping the Leaf tires? They’ve proven nothing yet all I read is how awesome they are and how every other team is third liners.

The Habs bottom 6 (JK, Anderson, Lehkonen, Byron, Weal Armia) scored a combined 48 goals last season.

and aren't you tired of twisting yourself into a pretzel to make any argument ever? Nobody said your team was all 3rd liners, you said there were 4 2nd lines, which is obviously hilarious on it's face. I didn't mention the Leafs once, you obviously have Toronto Derangement Syndrome. We'll come up with an acronym for it later.

Not the first time the Habs get underestimated here. Won’t be the last either.

When was the last time the Habs out performed the general consensus here? We've been calling them a meh bubble team the last few years. They're a meh bubble team.

Sounds like somebody is crying about the Habs being underestimated by me even though I've been higher on the Habs than most anyone the past few years. Even said they had a solid chance to beat the pens.

The Habs are extremely well coached and play hard. Will always be a tough out that way. But you ain't winning anything without any impact talent and they are no exception outside of Price standing on his head which he hasn't done in a decade now.

You lost three straight year bets with me about leafs finishing above Habs. It happens often. Granted not in the past few years but that’s recency bias on your part.

Which of these guys aren’t second liners?

Tatar
Danault
Gallagher
Drouin
Toffoli
Kotkaniemi
Suzuki
Byron
Armia
Anderson (maybe him until he proves otherwise).

Byron and Armia are both 20g guys.

KK has greatly improved as evidenced by the playoffs but I’ll put him in the same “needs to prove himself” category as Anderson.

The Habs are loaded with second liners, not just six.

Armia has never scored 20 goals in his life. Career high of 16. The guy who raged about us calling Antropov a 30 goal scorer doesn't get to play this game that 16 goals in 58 games = 20 goal scorer.

Byron scored 20, 3 & 4 years ago on ridiculous shooting percentages. You got two strong career type seasons out of a bottom 6 player, but that's long gone man. Turns 32 shortly, 2 injury plagued years in a row...yeah, he's not remotely close to being a 2nd line hockey player right now.

Either of these two within screaming distance of a second line is the mark of a weak forward group.

So on pace was good for Antropov but not Armia? Prorated was 20.

Anyway we’ll see. I think teams will have a tough time rolling four lines against the Habs. That will be their game plan and I trust our coach to get that done.

Byron has scored 20g twice, most recently in 2017-18, and has only once topped 40 pts, in a 10-year career. He is now 31.

Armia has never scored 20g (the same way Antropov never scored 30 ;)), has never topped 30 pts in parts of 6 seasons. He is now 27.

KK I agree with you on. Anderson I don't think is good enough, but will be force vfed playing time to see if he is.

if you wanted to argue you have a super-elite bottom six, that may be a different conversation. but four second lines is a stretch.

Oh and don’t thumbs up Zeke when he’s being a narcissist. This discussion has nothing to do with him. I couldn’t care less what he thinks about the Habs.

isn't that most of what we do here?
Touché

Yes, part of my thinking is expecting improvement from KK and Anderson. I’m still very confident in saying the Habs will be able to roll four strong lines. Especially on the defensive end of the game.

Ten games against the Leafs will fuel the rivalry. Can’t wait.
