OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

At our current vaccination rate, by mid July if 75% of those eligible agree to get the vaccine we'll be at around 55% fully vaccinated. Close enough. But we'll be swimming in vaccine so one would hope we could accelerate.

I've been saying it for awhile. I think June will be good, July will be great and August will be almost normal. Back half of the summer will be what the government is projecting as "fall."

lol good luck with that. The BBQ season is kicking off this weekend...it's too late! People are champing at the bit.

My social media is hilarious right now. I have three invites already. It's like the government has actively made people tune out...so weird.

It's the pandemic that people are tuning out, not the government. I don't blame the people much, it sucks. But the government is saying and doing what they should and listening to science. We are almost at the finish line and it would be a shame to ignore protocols now because I really don't want this thing extended any more than it has to be. See: Scotia, Nova.

I like that the Canadian recs are basically "we need everyone to get it", so hopefully that pushes a few people on the fence to go out and do their part.

Yeah, I have only heard from a couple (the typical fruit cakes) about hesitancy.

Where I am seeing strong hesitancy is in the under 12 group. Most parents I chat with are gonna wait on that even if they approve it this summer.

Tbh, I’m at the tipping point where I’m going to start completely ignoring Ontario’s public health recommendations, and make up my own.

My parents are already about one month out from getting their first doses, and it’ll be over two weeks out from the first dose for me and almost all of my local friends by next weekend.

Considering that, and with outdoor transmission being what it is, backyard BBQ season will probably start up sooner than later for me.

I agree that they need to put some sort of 1 dose bubble type option out or it will be anarchy.

You can have a 2 household or 5 person etc bubble for outdoor.

Yeah outdoor gatherings for 1 dosers is more than safe. But I think they are overshooting their guidance purposely and fully assuming we're all doing outdoor gatherings. I know I already am with my parents. Those haven't stopped from even pre-vaccination.

Just in time for the weekend lull. That's more like it tho.

Edit: a record 154,104 doses. Equivalent to about 3.5m in a day in the US, well above their average. US record is 4.6m in a day I believe. We'd need to top 200,000 vaccinations to accomplish that.

Weekend lull no more. This is the way. We're going to be just fine kids.
