I get the call for Matthews and Tavares etc, but Nick Paul scored the game winner in grade 7. Papetti makes the point above.

Ideally I want a power forward for that first or second line. A big body that plays a hard game in the corners. (you know what we thought Nick Ritchie was to be)

Trade Kerfoot, Let Mikheyev go.
Keep Engvall because I think he can still improve.
He had a great playoffs, but I'd lose Muzzin.
Try to resign Gio to a reasonable price and have him on the third pair
Sandin and Lilly are staples. See if Muzzin gets you a younger defenseman.
Trade Mrazek and send with a pick to just make it go away.

If you trade Nylander (not saying I want to) but if you could use that money and Muzzin's money to see what Filip Forsberg would want.
Other notable UFA's that if you can get for cheap with the Kerfoot, Muzzin, Mrazek savings for some size.

If you can get rid of Mrazek, I wonder what Korpisalo would cost as a UFA?

That needs to be done. It's not sending Tavares a message, it's sending them all a message that their play cost him the C.
 
Just based on what I read here since I haven't watched many Leaf games lately, maybe what the team needs are Gary Roberts on the payroll. He may scare them into winning a round or two instead of living in a van down by the river. 😱

That kind of shit effects more than just the 2 players in question… no way everyone would be cool with that for a bunch of different reasons. Hell, I doubt that keefe, Dubas and shanny would agree with doing that

I've always figured that the Leafs' best chance to avoid this was for this team to have enough playoff success (and hopefully win a Cup before his current deal is up) so that there would be very little to tempt him into leaving. So, well, fuck....
