if that was the threshold, there is noneThere's no "barely" here. You either meet the threshold or you don't. They met it, case closed.

Only in Quebec are you allowed to both be openly racist, and also extremely indignant when called out about being openly racist.
Actually, I take it back. That applies to most of America.
sure was. her comments were so fucking reasonable too.Yep.
Recent example of that was that federal anti-Islamophobia representative that was forced to make a grovelling apology to the Bloc & Legault for calling out Quebec’s obviously racist Bill 21 as racist, after the massive indignant outcry from Quebec.
That was an embarrassing & repugnant display.
And I've always said if I ever moved back to Canada it sure as shit wouldn't be Quebec.Only in Quebec are you allowed to both be openly racist, and also extremely indignant when called out about being openly racist.

I have to disagree somewhat. There's no rational pro gun argument with irrational people. There's a difference. There are far more responsible gun owners than irresponsible ones. Far far more. There's no rational pro gun argument in a modern world. It's telling that the only real argument for them in the US is muh constitution, muh (purposely poorly defined) freedom, muh jesus.
More guns = more shootings, full stop. The Aussies data shows all that we need to see imo. They changed one fucking variable in their society and saw a massive drop in gun related crimes of all types.

No argument there. The frustrating part is I think if this was a referendum and stricter policies were on the ticket then they would lose. The USA doesn't do referendums because they're afraid of the real voice of the people. But they ruin it for you, and then you all pay into an organization that makes it politically impossible to isolate them and get guns out of their hands.
So you all lose.
yeah the data speaks clearly and overwhelmingly. There's no rational pro gun argument in a modern world. It's telling that the only real argument for them in the US is muh constitution, muh (purposely poorly defined) freedom, muh jesus.

somehow the narrative has gone totally off the rails in America. No argument there. The frustrating part is I think if this was a referendum and stricter policies were on the ticket then they would lose. The USA doesn't do referendums because they're afraid of the real voice of the people.
It's too late now....somehow the narrative has gone totally off the rails in America.
the constitution obviously permits reasonable gun control, but nobody seems to be having that conversation properly or in any depth
Exactly and I'm ready to have that discussion and I am an enthusiast. Many of my shooting buddies feel the same. Licensing, stricter controls, checks etc are a must. I would also make people get licensed and have to pay every two years for a renewal. Charge like $150 and they will lose their shit but if you multiplied $150 x all the gun owners? That is a shit ton of money to help pay for better training for cops and damages from shootings.somehow the narrative has gone totally off the rails in America.

Maybe hold on to your guns for the upcoming Civil War 2.0Exactly and I'm ready to have that discussion and I am an enthusiast. Many of my shooting buddies feel the same. If your license is lapse you get fined and lose your gun. Simple as that.
Of course that'll never fly here in never never land
