OT: American Politics

Not sure what you're referencing, but your vulgarity, as usual, is getting in the way of you making a cogent point.

do you understand that the graph you just posted shows the trade deficit increasing?

do you have any idea how high tariffs would have to be to make it economically beneficial for these companies to actual pay american wages?

and do you understand who has to pay those tariffs?
I already told you that I know for a fact through people that work there and make the decisions that large big box retailers were simply pulling chinese products off shelves and cancelling orders.

I don't think you understand the power and leverage America has on letting (or not) other countries enter into the largest consumption market in the world.

To think that America couldn't exist and thrive without chinese production (or illegal immigrant work) is laughable. How did we ever manage for 200+ years?

"The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that the goods and services deficit was $61.6 billion in April, down $76.7 billion from $138.3 billion in March, revised."

The bigger problem is that for top tier economies, trade deficits are actually good in general, because it means you're buying cheap shit from other countries, and selling value products.

So yeah, congrats on crashing the economy enough that people can't buy things from outside the country. Well done.

The economy is doing terrific.

the idea that the USA is hurt by global trade instead of being the biggest beneficiary of it is the laughable part of course.

but hey if you think isolationism will work out well for you then go for it. The rest of the world won't stop globalizing in the meantime though.

Global trade has coincided with the degradation of the middle class. That is a clear cause and effect line for me.

Somewhat related, but the fact an American student applying for a job is having to compete against the entire world (who will accept a lower wage) for that job is unacceptable.

That's why the remittance tax needs to be MUCH higher than the proposed 4%.

The world needs the US market to sell into MUCH, MUCH more than the US needs their sweatshops. The world can sell into their other markets if they have an issue with the US and see how that works out.

We saw that play out with China vendors pivoting to selling into Europe because of the tariffs.

The elites have convinced you that the foreigners are to blame, while they continue to steal from the middle class.

But enjoy your isolationism.
