2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

Really hope management leaves 5-7 million available and wait for the deadline to take advantage of better deals. Every year GM fucks the team over by having useless guys on the roster taking us right to the cap where we have to give up picks to fit in shitty players we don’t need. Use the AHLers when injuries hit.

This team seems to really like those shitty, useless players. I don't get it.
 
Use the AHLers period. Why are we developing these guys to never give them a shot?

Hirvonen never got much more than a sniff and now is leaving. Steeves couldn't have been as good as or better than Laughton, thereby allowing us to keep that 1st and Grebs? Niemela hasn't seen the light after years, and seems completely blocked by a fully-signed D corps.

Enough trash from other teams clogging up the roster. Play a few kids every year and see who sticks. Dump the ones that don't and keep trying. Not only do you then get the complete picture on a player after developing them for years, but if they're good, you've got a cheap contributor for 3 years minimum.

I agree. I don't get not playing the AHL guys. The Steeves thing is stupid. he's never been given a chance.
 
I really hope we take care of business and don't give Mitch the option to come back on July 1.

I'm in for Marchand and he would be my top target. Go 3x8 and get it done.

If you get Tavares at a deep discount that needs term that's fine too.

But that's as far as I'd go giving term to players (I'm assuming Bennett and Ek will remain Panthers, they could kinda change the equation here).

If you can get some 1 year prove it/in it to win it deals, great (one or some of Kane, Boeser, Giroux, Patches, etc).

But yeah setting up for a stronger crop and the slight possibility of McJ to Toronto should also be part of the plan.
