2026 NHL UFA/Trade Thread

It wont go to court. The NHL is a private business that is not obliged to offer Hart or anyone else a job. Kaepernick never played again and neither will the 5 rapists.
No team was willing to sign Kaepernick. If a team is willing to sign Hart, the league might have a hard time preventing him to play, and yes there might be a court case if such a showdown occurs.

"Willing" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. There was an understanding among all teams that Kaepernick was off limits.

Why is that bum some cause celebre for you? He had been demoted to 3rd string before he kneeled and was shadow banned.
Unlike that bum who plays under center for Dallas, Kap won playoff games and went to a Superbowl.

Kap had star QB talent. None of the 5 Team Canada rapists/players are so good that any team is going to throw caution to the wind and sign any of them. Every one of them is an average to mediocre player who isnt worth the PR headaches.

I know the 49ers went to the Superbowl with Kap and the Cowboys cant win a game that matters with Dak.
glad you now agree that Emmitt Smith was better than Barry Sanders because 3 SBs vs 1 playoff game wu means he has to be better,,,,

now I am done with this conversation, you can type away to the wind if you wish, your blind hatred makes your views irrelevant going forward

The not being talked about scenario; Price is dealt pre start of the season. Habs do nothing and accrue that cap space ($4.5M+)…. make their move around US Thanksgiving (late Nov / early Dec) targeting a team that has decided they will opt for McKenna derby given their slow start

Similar to Carrier deal last season - transact in a buyers market. The solution is very likely to be a short / medium term solution … but who cares?

I expect GMs of teams that start slow out of the gate will have impatient owners breathing down their backs to tank and go all in for McKenna sweeps - in addition to Pit, SJS, Chi…. Bos, NYI, Preds, Philly, NYR and maybe a couple of others

I talked about it a few times. Unlike other offseasons, there were no (or very few) clear tank jobs this summer.....but by December, as you say, several teams will shift their focus from playoff positioning to the draft lottery
