Not sure how I’m spinning anything? Is the Cup not the ultimate goal and all that really matters in the end?

And yes the Leafs were victims of bad decisions as well as extremely unfortunate timing with a stagnant cap that nobody saw coming, as has been discussed here many times.
 
If the only way I could enjoy my team and their "success" was if they won a championship... I'd not watch sports. I mean it's painful enough when I don't have that insane bar. And I've actually watched and remember winning championships. I can't imagine having that bar and never seen my team win.

I never said anything about only enjoying championships and nothing else. The NHL is entertainment of course. But the only big dick bragging rights that matter in the end are Cup rings.

I was referring to the players/mgmt that win it. Being immortalized on the coolest trophy (and most difficult to win) in all of pro sports.

Majority of fans are just bandwagoners so yes, I agree: who gives a fuck what they think.
