2026 Hurricanes Off Season Thread

Ok those last two left off makes it even more puzzling now…kinda shitty really.
 
And semi-retired Equipment manager....who worked all home games and worked all the playoff games was also left off. This was his last year before retiring and he didn't travel during the regular season but he was doing the things behind the scenes at home...Been with the org since Hartford

I am not up in arms about Dundon...its his billions that brought it here IMO so whatever, but there were some interesting omissions and people on it for sure

Not sure what the bar was for Heimosalmi when they drafted him, but this kind of has to be his last AHL rotation unless he’s happy to just stick around as a minor pro defender in the US or something. He’s smallish, mobile and low impact and none of that seems particularly likely to change much now that he’s 23.
 
So, will the kids be getting rings too? Maybe they won't since it didn't cost Dundon anything to put them on the Cup and rings would cost something. I'd be pretty steamed if I sacrificed to help improve the team and got shat on so an offspring could be permanantly honored. That's just supremely messed up the way I see it.

The three new minority owners of the Canes that came on board in March also got left off the Cup for Dax and Caden and Teagan and the clan…this story has more legs than an octopus…oh those slow dog days of July…😀

I dont remember people whining so much when Florida did it last year with their owner, wife and his 3 kids...or the other owners that have done it over the years......Carolina does it's the end of humanity as we know it. and to clarify I am not talking about people here, just the garbage on the world wide interwebs
 
Are people outside of socials (and here I guess) actually talking about this issue? Because, there’s LOTS of other stuff going on the world

Viola’s sons are listed as alternate governors and are involved with the family’s businesses.

My issue with it is that some deserving people got left off the Cup. Bob Gorman and a Mike Sundheim to start, although they could have been added, the Canes only used 53 of 55 allowed spots. Joel Nystrom should be there. And people online are talking about Jesper Fast. I understand the sentiment, but he’s 1 of 5 development coaches. You can’t add him without the others. And the only way Nystrom and the development coaches get added is if all the non-Tom Dundons are removed.

I am not bothered by it. The man does poor tons of his money into this thing we have here, so he can put whoever the hell he wants on it......but IMO Nystrom should be there over Deslaurier. They had to get permission to add him...why him and not Nystrom who contributed a lot more than Nic. Gorman and for sure Sundheim should be there.....but who knows, Bob....is the kind of guy that would say leave me off, I am already on it and put someone else on there.....but since they only used 53 of 55, I have no idea why they were left off

That's probably because we didn't know about it. I know I didn't. I think it is unfortunate if you can put kids name on the cup. It kind of weakens the meaning of having your name on it.

The hockey Guy just put up a video on it and I completely agree with him.
