2026 Hurricanes Off Season Thread

All the trade proposals popping up around the web are laughably terrible. You'd think Tulsky emailed every GM and said "just toss me something, anything for his Russian bum." You're not getting Nikishin for a 3rd line scrub and a 4th round pick.
Honestly, other than that half a blurb (which is probably horsecrap) from Pagnotta, I haven’t seen anything other than stuff from fan accounts or those team sites that may as well be fan accounts.

Not shocking really. This is the kind of thing where you’ll maybe see a half a hint from one of the name brand media guys right before it breaks.

Canes RFA dman Ronan Seeley filed for arbitration.

Jason Robertson did too, ending any chance at an offer sheet.

Interesting that Seeley filed. Not sure what he’s looking for, since he’s already got pretty high compensation at the AHL level. This will probably be his last contract with Carolina as it really doesn’t look like he’s got much of a path to the big club, so maybe he just wants to juice his minimum payout. With Chicago’s roster a bit thin, he knows he’s a key guy at that level and he IS coming off a bit of a bounce back season after his production tanked for a couple of years.

Seeley’s AHL salary was $80k. Of the guys on 2 way contracts, only Bryce Momtgomery made less than him, but the others were only at either $82.5k or $85k. Maybe he’s looking for a 1 way contract.

And with Seeley filing for arbitration, that opens the 2nd buyout window for the Canes.

I misread his salary, but either way Seeley is at least 3 guys away from the fringes of the NHL roster and probably more like 4. He’s got very little to gain here, which is … whatever. Maybe he and his agent just decided to roll the dice and see what happens. Worst case, he gets dealt away and potentially that yields a shorter path to an NHL spot. At this stage, he just doesn’t feel like an NHL prospect.

Valimaki probably replaces Reilly as the 7th dman. And he’s behind Legault and Nystrom. And maybe Badinka too. Other than AHL depth, I don’t know why they qualified him.

I also like to hunt them with a camera. How about where you are? Pike and trout, I'd bet.
Yes pike is the most popular spieces to fish for. After that perch. You can find those almost everywhere alongside roach. I usually fish for bream and tench in open water but pike is really fun to catch on the ice.
Do you mean you have a underwater camera while fishing?

Wisconsin - grew up on a lake. Threw everything back except walleye, sometimes we kept perch and blue gills(also called sunfish). Northerns were fun but back they went.
