2016 Playoff Thread

They're in a tough situation. If they lose that will be the 4th time in 5 years they were knocked out by the Kings or Hawks. Its a tough time to try to come out of the west. Its like trying to beat the Avs and Wings in the late 90's early 00's. Thats a good team, and a really well coached team. I know they went hard after Babcock last offseason, but barring something like that it would be pretty hard to find a better coach than Hitch.

That was weird because the 2nd unit was out there with complete puck possession. I'm sure Hitch would have put Tarasenko out there as soon as he had a chance. Players can underthink things at times.
 
I agree. But they gave him his 1 last chance and if they choke this one, he's done. You can't return with the same coach again. And the Tarasenko b.s is just more ammo to fire him.
Hitchcock is really good, but he also has a shelf life like every coach. He has his most success in the first 1-2 seasons usually.

I thibk it's more about overall frustration about how he is being used.

Perhaps but that was shit timing. And very immature to do it on the bench. What if the Blues had scored, would T be pouting that it wasn't him that got the goal.
 
There is no excuse for Tarasenko to be 6th in forward ice time on that team.

He should probably lead it, and assuredly be on the top PP unit.

And Parayko the revelation should not play more than Pietro and Shatts
 
Tarasenko should play more but Peitrangalo led the team with almost 30 mins of ice time last night. Pareyko only played 22 mins and he shouldn't play less than that. He is an awesome defesman.

The thing is, they have the NHL's best, deepest defense. I get the Payeko numbers. The Tarasenko one makes zero sense. They are seriously lacking pure talent upfront compared to other contenders.
 
Yeah they should be double
shifting tarasenko if they are concerned with match ups not sticking him on the bench. He drives their offense.

Tough to complain about their D usage though. They have 4 top pairing dman that can all play against anyone. And Peitrangalo gets the most ice time as he should.
 
Tarasenko was pissed because he didn't see any PP time in the last PP. There is no excuse for line matching or whatever on the power play. Hitchcock seems to be going senile by the second. It's almost like he's conspiring to lose.
 
What the hell is with the constant camera shifting on the Sportsnet set? I now remember why I stopped watching them earlier this year. Just horrible production values.

It's a studio hockey broadcast, not an action film. Keep the damn thing stationary.
 
Crosby vs. Ovechkin in the second round. First playoff meeting in seven years, I think.

Rogers may get better ratings for that series.
