2016 Playoff Thread

If you're Tampa, why do you want to give up that much cap for him? I see no reason why Yzerman would up his offer. And in fairness, I see no reason why Stamkos would sign for 8.5 million per.

It would be silly for Yzerman to judge how good his team is, or how much they need Stamkos based on series wins against old and busted Detroit, and one man band NYI. Which isn't to say that with their current group and the upcoming cap constraints that they should spend 10+ million to keep Stamkos, but still, beating two very beatable teams shouldn't move the needle either way.

ya, i mean the early 2000s leafs clearly didn't need sundin; wasn't missed when they knocked off the isles and sens in the 02 playoffs. cost them the series against the canes, too...

good teams can withstand the loss of good players, even their best, in a 7 game series because.. in a 7 game series crazy things can happen.

you need 82 good games just to get there.

obviously steven stamkos is tampa's best player and obviously he makes them way ****ing better. it isn't even debatable in any sense of the word.

Die Hard fans don't let interest wane. Also, you guys made the postseason 3 years ago. 3 years removed from the postseason and hardcore fans drop off? Don't think so. There are guys here who have still watched every game. They are hardcore fans.

My interest waned this year. If I had plans, I had plans. Also work shift work. But I have 56,000 posts on a Leafs message board since 2006. I can write out the entire roster and tell you every players' cap hit, I can name nearly every prospect and tell you where they're playing. So if you think watching football on my days off and missing a lot of Leaf games in a year where our leading scorer had 45 pts makes me not a diehard fan, you can eat a big bag of dicks :)

I'm sure you're just as die hard as those who watched every single game when your teams leading scorer had 45 points.

Heck, whatever. Watch however much you want, watch other sports if you want , call yourself whatever you want. Apparently I'm gay.

I truly don't care about the labeling. I was more calling out the hypocrisy of some of your mates here. I can do most if what you mentioned here concerning the Habs, but because I also follow the preds I'm a casual fan who is also gay. Yet you stop following the Leafs and watch some pigskin and maintain that die hard label.

In my opinion we are both pretty die hard fans but to the glass house purists here...well, YMMV

I know everyone is "sensitive" to head shots these days, but this is more a case of "shit happens" than a guy head hunting.

We know Letang isn't a guy that goes around cheap shotting players.

It was a clean hit. Shoulder to chest. Elbow tucked in. The contact with his head was due to momentum, not being specifically targeted.

Weak suspension.

lol

That was a pretty classic Phil goal. The guy's got a hell of a release when he comes flying in off the rush.
