With that TD, they cover the largest spread in CFP history, they went off as 19.5 point dogs. That is unless Bama takes the kickoff and scores. They should just decline any bowl bid from here on out.
edit: or not, since ND recovered the onside kick.

actually from 1925 to 1969 ND did not accept any bowl bids. Not sure why other than maybe exams? There were very few bowls most of those years so they left a slot open for another team. They were a top 10 team many of those years. They went to 1924 Rose Bowl but no bowls before that year. Knute Rockne years were 1918-1930 .
All of this is part of the reason I don't care for college football. Notre Dame is still treated like some sort of sacred entity when the reality is they are just another 'next tier' team that hasn't deserved the reverence they get today for over 20 years. I understand that they have that mystique and a huge following, but that is because of successes from a long time ago. Can we start treating them as just another ACC football program now? That is really all they are.
Imagine if any other US sport picked playoff teams partly based on TV ratings? They would be a laughing stock and rightly so. You would have the Yankees in the playoffs over teams with better records. Same with Red Sox, Cowboys, Lakers, Packers, etc.
I think NBC is likely to extend ND contract as long as ratings are about the same as they are now. They might pay less and ND will probably be OK with less unless it's a big drop.
usually high roller donors fund a lot of the buyouts. Because in many cases the high rollers demand the guy get fired. Doesn't matter if the AD or chancellor want to keep the guy, if the high rollers want him gone, he's gone. Auburn has a banker who is their big donor. Rumor has it Amato was axed partly for not kissing up enough to big donors. He did not even want them at practices at first. In other words if your name is on a college building you pretty much can get a guy fired after just 1 bad year . That's why ECU fired Steve Logan, he did not like kissing butts of donors and had a down year .
Tenn big donor is the guy Haslam who owns the Browns. If he wants a guy out , that's all that matters. And yes his name is on a building and the business school is named for him. And his brother was Tenn governor for 8 years
Although several of them could have. Plenty of depth guys were thrust into the void by a variety of teams this post season. It's almost like we shouldn't get all bent out of shape about these results or something ....Florida coach complained he had to play 3rd or 4th stringers so that's why they lost their bowl. At least no ACC coach said something like that
NCAA confirmed 2021 BB tourney will be in Indiana only. Besides Indy they are using Purdue, Butler, and Indiana arenas. Also a small place on the Indy fairgrounds along with Lucas Dome and the Pacers arena. They could have more BB arenas right here in the Triangle closer together.
Home of the late, not so great Raleigh Bullfrogs of the Global League. The ABA Carolina Cougars played some of their games in Dorton for a portion of their time on earth as well. Wonder why a pro team that actively played in four arenas in three cities had trouble setting down roots? Weird, right? The Cougars played in the Charlotte Coliseum (when it was rat infested), the Greensboro Coliseum, Dorton and Reynolds ... sometimes during the same season's schedule. It was beyond stupid. The games were fun though, and tickets were dirt cheap. My Dad and I used to enjoy watching leisure suited Larry Brown coach Jumping Jo Caldwell, Billy Cunningham and Mack Calvin a couple of times a year.No Dorton Arena?![]()
