I have a surgery next Thursday at Wake Med Cary to exercise the nuclear option of having my prostate removed to make me cancer-free. Urologist said that it's to the point that I'll need to have it removed anyway and the older a patient gets, the harder it is to safely remove it. So, here we are.
It's not a big deal at all in any way. A friend of mine just started her breast cancer battle and she has to do the chemo thing and all of that. I don't have to go through that process and I'm so thankful for it. Still, surgery is surgery and I'm not looking forward to my life of inconvenience for the next month or so. Again, I'm incredibly thankful that the only drawback will be that inconvenience and no more than that.
(I'm trying to keep this announcement off of social media because I want to tell people face to face.)
