On my android phone, I switched from the Chrome web app to one named Brave and this problem has gone away....Oh, and the full screen popups when I’m using my phone. Those are fun.

And for a while they kept trying to redirect me to their iPad app.Yeah, I still have an online sub to the NandO, but God they make it tempting to fire them with their wonky app and all the questionable open source “articles” in the links at the bottom of the pages. Oh, and the full screen popups when I’m using my phone. Those are fun.
I could get off my butt and do something about it too … but resent having to bother since I’m paying themOn my android phone, I switched from the Chrome web app to one named Brave and this problem has gone away.
I've done some of the same; The Athletic of course as you mention, and Popular Information, Democracy Docket, for news journalism at a national level, I'm just still too wedded to the idea of a local daily (I still even get the paper-paper on Sundays) for today's market realities. I'll look into The Assembly, thanks.I've gone the opposite route, paying money to outfits like The Assembly, who are still investing in local and state journalism, and the Triangle Business Journal, which gives me pretty solid coverage of North Carolina business. Also, my subscription to the New York Times--which might be the only "old line" journalism company that has figured out how to remain profitable in the new era--gives me what I need for national and international perspectives.
Even for less important things, like sports, I have found that outlets like The Athletic and a daily newsletter I get about the Mets, provide me with much better journalism than the traditional news outlets can anymore.
I, too, worry about the decline in journalism. At the same time, I think the idea of the local newspaper providing most of your journalism needs is long over. The analogy for me is the department store. A basic business tenet is that generalists are usually beaten by specialists; I think that's what has happened to the "big tent" news business, especially as it relates to local news. The hard part for the consumer is that--unless it's really important to you and you're willing to put in the time--finding a collection of news specialists that meet your needs is more than most want to pursue.

Torry is going to need whatever they call the veterans committee to get in. Which is fine. He was terrific, but was always the second best receiver on his team in its heyday … which he openly admits.Luke Kuechly was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Torry Holt was once again passed over.
I got trampled. Broken hand lol I did get the shot even if the espn camera man got his elbow in my shotClassic Carolina-Duke.
People online making a big deal out of it is ridiculous. He said he was from UNC on Thursday night football and Monday night football last month. He just wanted to give a shout out to his high school. People get so butt hurt over the dumbest stuff. I’ve seen him at Carolina about eight times this year there’s no animosity. When he comes to basketball games, he sits right behind me. I’ve known that family for 20 yearsDrake Maye introduced himself from Myers Park High School.
