2019-Whenever Misc. Grab Bag Thread

I am hoping that if this happens, we get an American League team.

Hockey is my favorite sport, but there is no team I am a bigger fan of that my Mets. There is no way I can ever change my allegiance to a Raleigh-based team in the National League like I did with hockey and the Canes.

Yeah, I could at least half-heartedly support an AL team … maybe. It would be a nice problem to have, either way.

I was lucky when we got an NHL team because I was more of a general purpose hockey fan than anything else. My favorite team was the Leafs, but I wasn’t a die hard by any means. I just liked how they played and all my friends were annoying Pens fans. And when NC got the Panthers it was easy to switch because I never really got into the (then) Redskins or Falcons.

I'd have a hard time pulling against the O's if Raleigh landed an MLB AL team. Just too died in the wool and too old to want to change that allegiance. And here's a nod of remembrance to our old pal GreensboroHurricanes.

Same for me as NoMich with Tigers and Cubs.. they'll always be my teams ('84 Tigers >>> all y'all) but I could certainly root for a team here and stay polite about my fandom when they're in town. Cheering baseball to me is not as rabid an activity as hockey anyway lol #chill

Just don't mess with the D-Bulls for the love of all that is holy in the Church of Baseball. W's and L's aren't important to me there, but a nice cheap night out at the ballpark (with 10000 fans, not 45000) is. #buymesomepeanutsandcrackerjack

Honestly, I’m too old to adopt a new team so even if Dundon pulls this off, I’ll probably turn up in Cardinals gear when the Birds come to town

I'm the hypocrite. Although I grew up in NC, my teams are all over the place. Never cared one but about the Hornets. I don't watch the NBA. My favorite NFL team isn't the Panthers. Never will be. But I pull for them and wish them luck most of the time. Couldn't name 4 players if I had to. I was a Habs fan for 10+ years. I always liked the Avs too. That's from my Patrick Roy fandom. If the Canes disappeared tomorrow, I would go to the Avs over the Habs. I adopted the Canes the minute the move was announced. Would I ditch my baseball team for a local one? Probably not. But I won't root against them or hate them like so many transplants still do to the Canes, Panthers, etc.
