Damn. Sad to hear this. I heard he wasn't doing well.
I met Frank in 1980 in Texas with a friend of mine. He was real nice and a fun guy. It helps that I was with one of the sound engineers of his band. Frank gave me a bumper sticker that said "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide" ...It was not long after ZZ Top's album Deguello was released. Thanks for the music and memories & RIP.

I'll be listening to Tejas as I drift off to sleep tonight.

While walking the wooded trails at Little River Community Park (it's lovely) on the Durham/Orange County line with tunes cranked up on my ear buds, a random Whatever Grab Bag thread popped into my mind. Here goes;
Name a favorite album you can listen to start to finish without skipping any songs & why.

Music is subjective, so, there's no wrong answers and no judgment here.

I'll start with "Waiting for Columbus" by Little Feat. I have always loved that album since it came out ( I was still in my teens). The band's vibe is outstanding and the Tower of Power Horns makes the total production even more delicious to me.

How about you?
 
I’m not a skipper, really. So that applies to 90% of my collection.

If you just want a note perfect record … maybe Rubber Soul by The Beatles

I have two…. Mainly because it’s literally the only thing my brother and I ‘bonded’ over. If it weren’t for these 2 albums I probably never would have spoken to him lol

I'm on the same boat as jeffbear in that if I put an album on, I listen to all of the songs, but three albums that meet the requirement and jumped into my mind right away:

The Church - "Heyday"
The Stooges - debut
Radio Birdman - "Radios Appear" & "Living Eyes"
(ok, four albums)
 
Who's Next
The first 6 Sabbath albums; first if I have to pick one
Motorhead Ace of Spades

If you're not familiar with Radio Birdman, Australia's greatest rock band, check out those albums that I listed. I will never tire of them, ever. Their main songwriter and lead guitar player is from SE Michigan and was good buddies with the guys from the Stooges and MC5. Dude's name is Deniz Tek and he's lived an interesting life.

You're probably familiar w/ the band Death then; another of those Michigan proto-punk bands. I was leaving HT 10-15 years ago and saw a guy wearing a Bad Brains I Against I tour T and stopped to chat with him (mine is lost, but probably would not fit beyond my head any longer!). He recommended I check out Death. Was a good recommendation.
I had that T on in a hostel in Hamburg, Germany in 1987 and some guy from Africa looks it and me up and down and asks "Bad Brains. What are Bad Brains?" Imagine that in any Sub-Saharan accent. I just told him they're the fastest band in the land. Man, those were good shows.

Yeah, that documentary was great. When the one guy died, it was sadly obvious that he was the real songwriting talent of the band.
 
I'm old enough to prefer "albums" where you hit play on whatever the device, and listen to all of the songs. I hate the "skip" culture. Our kids will ask Alexa to play something different 10 seconds into every song. They literally can't even listen to one entire song. It's the TikTok generation, with 10 second attention spans. Drives me crazy! You literally asked for a song, then asked for another song 10 seconds into that one.

Alexa, play "Delicate Sound of Thunder" in it's entirety please.
