2019-Whenever Misc. Grab Bag Thread

We'll have labor peace in the NFL through 2030. By a 1,019 - 959 margin, the players ratified the CBA. So we'll see 2 more teams in the playoffs this year and an option to add a 17th game next season. Retired players from earlier seasons will also see an increase in their pension payments.

certainly they will have to add parking so that will add to the cost. They could also run shuttle buses from downtown and other locations.

I probably skimmed right over this information, but I didn't see anything about transportation and/or parking for the new venue.

On Page 16, the 10 year projection of increased hospitality tax revenue is about $1.5 million. That's a pretty lousy return for $11 million a year for 30 years

How much money has PNC arena generated ? I guess that number is available somewhere. Also you can probably look up Red Hat Amp., Walnut Creek , Koka Booth, etc

About $4 billion in 20 years. But economic impact is different than hospitality tax revenue generated. And Downtown South will have a bigger economic impact than just generating hospitality tax revenue. But they're only seeking tax funding for the stadium, not the rest of the complex.

Add the Mexican soccer league to the list of suspended seasons. They played Friday, Saturday and today with 2 more matches scheduled for later tonight. They’ll play those 2 and then go dark.

Here it comes...to a state and city near you soon...

Pritzker orders all bars and restaurants to close to dine-in customers by end of day Monday

“The time for persuasion and public appeals is over. The time for action is here,” the governor said. “This is not a joke. No one is immune to this, and you have an obligation to act in the best interests of all the people of this state.”

We placed our first Wegman's curbside pickup order today...earliest slot we got was 11AM on Tuesday.

(Thank goodness my wife had the foresight to stock up ten days ago...the only thing we hope we still will be able to get on a regular basis is fresh produce.)

Ideally, out of work waitstaff can get hired as temporary grocery fulfillment personnel.

There's a good modern day Seinfeld episode for you:

George walks out of the store, pushing a cart overflowing with goods that were on "buy 2, get 3" sale and everyone glares at him as if he's a hoarder in the time of the Covid pandemic. "BUY 2 GET 3! BUY 2 GET 3!"

Leave it to the NFL to provide at least some sports activity, even if it’s only paper transactions.

Tom Brady is leaving the Pats. In a long Instagram post, he says it’s “time to open a new stage for my life and career”.
