2020 NHL Entry Draft

Depends what your view of prospects are. Poehling has a higher chance of playing in the nhl, but his upside is much lower

?

Poehling's probably a third line center, Norlinder is a bottom pairing d-man if he makes it. Time will tell, but my opinion on Norlinder will change if he can dominate the Swedish Elite League. He's turning 21 this year, I want to see him be one of the best d-men in the SEL. If he can't be in the upper tier, then the probability of him becoming anything are slim to none.

I disagree about Poehling’s upside. I think Poehling has a higher floor, but Norlinder has a higher ceiling. I think he has middle pairing potential

Good for them, but I strongly disagree.

If he's as good as they claim him to be, he'll be one of the top d-men in the SEL.

He's at an age where top prospects are already playing in North America.
Bergevin himself called him their most impressive prospect after Suzuki, KK and Romanov. Lots of hype around him right now.

A lot of hype for a guy who was the sixth defenseman on a Swedish team in the WJC in his last year of eligibility?

A guy who was one of the top d-men in Sweden's second best league at 20 years old?

If he's one of your 5 best prospects, your prospect pool isn't that great.

I don't care about what The Charlatan has to say. If Norlinder is as good as they say he is, he'll be great in the SEL. Anything short of that, I'm not interested.

St. Louis selects Jake Neighbours.

Damn. I was hoping he'd be around in the 2nd.

Fair, but sounds like he will.

The charlatan you say, is the guy who drafted lidstrom for Detroit and got the ranger to draft lunqvist. I’d say his opinion carried some weight.

while he says norlinder is no Hedman, but he will be a great defenseman and would complete Romanov on the same pairing since Norlinder is more offensive.

I’m going to take his word for it for now and hope he is right.

He's also the guy who had us draft Lukas Vejdemo and Jacob de la Rose, they turned out great too, right?

I've become tired of of these "potential players" who haven't shown anything.

You know why I'm high on Romanov over someone like Norlinder? Because he's shown clear signs that I can point to that he's one of the (if not the) best non-NHL defensemen of his age group right now. In two straight WJCs, he was the best d-man (he was second in 2020, but I thought he was better than Sandin). He played regularly in possibly the best organization in the second best league in the world.

18 year old d-men playing regularly in the KHL is rare and seeing someone named the best d-man in the WJC at 18 years old is rare. Those are real, tangible things to get excited about.

Show me, don't tell me. Norlinder's turning 21 in May, he's nearly at the make-or-break point for prospects in terms of age. By the time most prospects are 22, you generally have an idea as to what they'll become.

I have no idea what Norlinder's going to be. Is he promising? Sure. The same way Harris, Struble, etc. are promising, but haven't shown me anything I can point to and say that's why I'm really excited about them.
