2020 NHL Entry Draft

Team wouldn't trade for Scandella + sign Kovy if they were trying to tank. Just face it, this team will never actually be championship quality. Goal is to make the first round and then try to get lucky, it's been a shitty strategy for years but it makes the team the most money.
While I agree that it's not Bergevin's intent... I disagree with this statement.

I would have thought that playing 4 rounds of playoffs hockey would be the strategy that makes a team the most money.

Selling Stanley Cup Champions gears shouldn’t hurt either if it came to that.

That would require sacrificing 4 straight years of a hard rebuild and no playoffs. In '17-'18 after the previous year, they weren't trying to tank. So the '2' year rebuild isn't sufficient as you can see. This year, should have been a hard tank year with the top 5 being really strong, we'll see how it ends but it still sounds like MB is trying for a playoff spot.

Top 10:
1. Alexis Lafreniere - LW
2. Tim Stutzle - C/LW
2. Quinton Byfield - C
4. Cole Perfetti - C/LW
5. Marco Rossi - C
6. Jamie Drysdale - D
7. Yaroslav Askarov - G
8. Lucas Raymond - RW
9. Hendrix Lapierre - C
10. Connor Zary - C

Anybody who takes Lapierre with a high pick has a gambling problem.

Too many concussions at too young an age. Has gotten 3 since February of 2019 and hasn't played since mid-November after getting his third one. One in Feb, one in October and one in November. I always get really worried about players who get repeated concussions like Joey Hishon.

Lapierre's an excellent player. Imagine if Danault was better at pretty much everything, but at a younger age. That's +/- Lapierre.

With a late first, early second, yeah I'll take that risk. But a top-12ish pick? Nope, sorry, can't do it.

The CHL Top Prospects game starts on Sportsnet in 10 min for anyone wanting to see some of the top draft prospects in action

Anyone got a stream link? Sportsnet is not allowed below the 49th. I read one of zeke’s tweets that said Trump did it.

On my phone so hard for me to post a link but if you Googke CHL Live, that should take you to the pay per view stream

So now that I’ve seen Lafreniere play more than once I just can’t see how you don’t take him first over Byfield. Every time Lafreniere is on the ice the puck is on his stick. If he doesn’t have the puck he goes gets it in the corners, behind the net, back checks. The kid controls the game. He is a special talent and the Habs really should be doing everything they can to get him.

I still give the edge to the 6`4" C

I see Lafreniere as more of a sure thing. You go for the sure thing at #1

I will disagree with that

AL plays in a shit junior league and is one year older than Quinton , and both are averaging 2+ points a game

For me there is no middle ground with AL with regards to expectations .

He either becomes one of the top forwards of the decade like Kane, Giroux and others or his expectations aren't met

If Byfield isn't an elite 1C but a is bigger better skating version of ROR no one will be upset .

Who wouldn't want a 6`4" 220 pound 5 tool package with 65-70 points that plays 200 feet .

That extra year of development with AL is huge compared to a 17 year old Byfield.

Enough with the crap league stuff. Lafreniere has proven himself against top players in the world. The kid is legit. I take him over Byfield.

Now what’s the deal with this German kid that some are getting excited about?

Debate will need 5 years to come to fruition

The German kid is moving up the ranks like KK was a few years ago , impressive at the WJC

Dynamic player

Hum, that's close to my expectations for KK but apparently we shouldn't draft those in the top 5.
