2021-22 Season Hurricanes Misc. Thread

Yeah, that ain't helping either. Still, that would be the same for all the feeds and I don't notice other PxP guys stumbling near as much when I watch other games, and I've watched a fair amount of home games on TV this season and it shouldn't be an issue for those games. The big fella is still struggling with the pace, and fair play ... I would be as well. But nobody's paying me to do it.
I think they slow down the video but not the audio. So MM can be slow but in sync with the action.

I get that, but my issues with him are more style and content than timing. His brain seems to take too long to process what he's seeing and even calling it live doesn't fix that. I thought the game would slow down for him a bit but it really hasn't happened to any great degree. At this point he's pretty much a finished product ... and one that's IMO one of the two or three worst in the NHL. At least he's not whiny. I'll give him that much.

And our first round opponent won‘t be decided until game 82. Lightning shit the bed in Columbus, Bruins beat the Slugs. On Friday, the Bruins are in Toronto, the Lightning at the Islanders. Bruins need a win and any kind of loss by Tampa, the Bruins have the regulation wins tiebreaker. A Tampa win gives them 3rd and gives us the Bruins in the playoffs.

Shit the bed is putting it nicely…hopefully Tampa shows up vs the Islanders tonight. The Leafs have nothing to play for and it sounds like they will rest many of the big boys vs Boston. I guess for those hoping for a Tuesday/Thursday start to a series that could still come with a date with Tampa instead of the Bruins, but I want no part of the back to back Champs quite yet in round one after how the Canes payed head to head against Boston in the regular season.

Toronto is in a pickle here. Win and they might get Boston in the first round. Regardless of the actual strength of that actual Bruins team, there's no way they want that. Lose and they risk handing Tampa the 2 points they need to climb into a matchup with ... Toronto. The Leafs are kind of screwed either way. They either get the two time defending champs or have to try to exorcise half the ghosts in their considerable closet full of ghosts right out of the gate.

I mean, as a Canes fan I'm OK with the standings today ... so whatever gets us that as a final result works for me. It's weird to have finished play before everyone else though. Seemed to me like Carolina had games in hand for a huge chunk of the season.

Canes were supposed to finish today, in Pittsburgh but the league moved the game to the Covid makeup period and gave us a Pennsylvania back to back, putting the Pens the day before a Covid makeup game against the Flyers. Pens host the Jackets today. Onky the Canes and z kings are done with their schedules, everyone but Winnipeg and Seattle have 1 game left, the Kraken are in Winnipeg for a meaningless game on Sunday, for a game that was rescheduled due to weather.

The Hurricanes will host a prospects tournament this summer at Invisalign Arena, formerly the Wake Competiton Center.

That's a big reason they spent so much on the new facility. That'll be fun for the locals too

Waddell and RBA presser. Thr tournament will have Florida, Tampa and Nashville and will include games at the “big arena” too.

One thing out of the presser…the naming rights agreement with PNC expires in August. Waddell said they‘re working with several companies, both in the Triangle and nationally and 4 or 5 are looking at it “hard” and 3 have been on site. They’re looking at a 7 year term.

Yeah ... those deals that happen by accident through acquisition rarely end up being renewed and the trend is for these naming rights deals to flip at completion. Time to get used to a new name ... again.

Booins losing 3-1 and Lightning tied 1-1
