2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

My Psychology of Treliving work during his presser was on point. Mitch never had any desire to return. And Tre more than hinted at that.
 
Unless he told them $14m or don’t bother, and they said they won’t do that, and are trying to talk to him about less and he won’t entertain it. Even then, it astounds me that they wouldn’t be talking to try to see what the Leafs’ bottom line would be. If they wanted to give him $13m x 8, he’d actually leave? This is crazy.

The two main quotes that gave it for me was when he went out of his way to say "well it takes two to make a deal" and "I spoke to Mitch after the series about his future and told him he need to step away and come back to discuss after emotions cool."

I read the latter as Mitch basically saying he wants to move on and Tre saying relax, let's discuss in 2 weeks when you're less emotional.

The first one, I took as just stating the obvious, that both sides need to be interested and reasonable. The second one, I took as the Leafs wanting to wait it out to see what shakes out with the Panthers guys, and so it was just a delay tactic with the raw emotion of the loss being the excuse to base it on.
