but it was a good time... Canes Alumni won 6-3 over the IcePack... Wade and MikeM were in the rinkside scorekeeper bench, both on the mic, Wade handling his normal stuff and Mike doing a random mix of play by play and clowning (mostly at Shane's expense).They played 3 15-minute running periods with a half-period timeout in the middle of each, only taking a couple minutes break between 1st and 2nd periods but they had a full intermission and ice cut between 2nd and 3rd. It was fun to have the IcePack pep band in the house, I wouldn't mind seeing that for a regular Canes game sometime if they could figure out how to make it happen; I was big into college hockey up at Tech so I miss that. Brindy was 100% on faceoffs, because of course he was. Hedican and Aaron Ward played a pretty good shut-down D for a friendly. Wallin did suit up and play even though listed as a coach. Lavi stood behind the bench the whole time and seemed to be having a great time with the guys.
We were seated right by the Canes tunnel and my kid (adult, but still very much a kid) got Wesley's stick handed up post-game (without even begging
) and also a pre-game puck flipped up right at us by Whitney (which was later re-gifted to a 10-ish year old girl who sat near us in the 3rd and appeared to have a major crush on Shane (autographed #25 jersey, screaming his name, the whole bit) so the puck she got was "actually" flipped up by Shane )IcePack 0 2 1 = 3

3) Willis (unassisted) -- great steal while forechecking right at the corner of the net followed by a backhand roof

Thanks, JB. I've been using MS Edge for many years and haven't had a problem until recently. BTW, this issue isn't happening with other sites.

This has been happening to me on my Android phone (Chrome browser) for about a week now. This does not happen to me on my laptop using FireFox.

Just to add to it. I use Apple safari and also chrome on my phone and have had no issues. I have also not had any issues in my laptop using chrome. Just to provide a control group 
My suggestion ... try a browser that limits cache content like Duck Duck Go and see how that goes. It's generally going to be a cache issue or an ad blocker issue when that happens on this site. DDG manages to block the ads without screwing with the function, in my experience.

Canes-adjacent news: Luke wasn't on the daily beat anymore of course, and it didn't say where he's headed, but looks like one fewer writer to put anything out covering the Canes? I got this paragraph in my N&O email this morning:

Do we have any coverage? An occasional post from Cory and almost zero stories in The Athletic (which was the reason I subscribe to it).
DeCock has been exclusively writing columns and longer form reporting for years now. His "coverage" of the Canes amounted to an article once a week during the season and at key off season periods like free agency and the draft. Supposedly Chip Alexander is still on the beat, but he's covering half a dozen other things as well.
This will be a test of whether or not the NandO wants to continue covering sports other than the Triangle's ACC schools. If they hire another columnist, then they're in ... but I suspect that it's going to go the other way around and they'll just hunker down with the cheaper junior staffers they've been hiring to do the college beats. Sports journalism just doesn't sell papers or drive engagement anymore. That's why virtually every news outlet has gotten out of the sports reporting business. Even the big national papers are either phasing it out slowly (Washington Post, LA Times) or basically subcontracting sports (NY Times). There's VERY few sports departments to speak of in the newspaper business.

Decock beat the previous Canes reporter for the N&O. I think his name was Cecil Harris.
Chip also covers Duke athletics and when there is a conflict between Duke/Canes scheduling, he does the Duke beat
Chip covers all kinds of crap ... none of it particularly well. He'll retire soon-ish and they'll find another recent grad to replace him. Presuming they bother to replace him.
And yeah, Luke was by far and away the best Canes beat reporter the NandO ever had. Steve Politi did go on to a long career in other markets but he HATED the Hurricanes press staff and the fan base when he was here, and it showed in his writing. Cecil Harris was some sort of weird science experiment. A guy with no real hockey background in a market he clearly thought was beneath him. He bounced around the NY press outlets and ended up writing feather-lite sports-themed books.
It seemed at times that the NandO wanted to taunt locals who cared about hockey more than they wanted to grow a reader base interested in anything other than college sports, golf and NASCAR. They put their resources into college sports and since they were the only major paper in town, they managed to perpetuate the image of the market as a college market that also happens to have an NHL team. IMO they did a disservice to the market, the NHL in Raleigh and their readers in the process. While I think the decline of newspaper journalism had been exceptionally bad for our society, our flagship newspaper very much reaped what they sowed. They treated their readers with disdain and received it back when times got tough.

I spoke to Luke last month in the press room at UNC. He’s moved to Chicago and at that time didn’t have anything lined up. He has been doing some freelance stuff, but nothing permanent unless he got something recently.

Yep. I have had lots of conversations with fellow photographer Robert Willett, who is a good friend and long time photographer for the N&O. Luckily they haven’t approached him yet. He’s a great photographer and even better human being.
