2025-26 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

While I really was wishing there were 2 days between Gams 4 and 5, at this stage I think the extended gaps between Games 5, 6 and 7 help Vegas. Carolina had them chasing their tails last night and they looked gassed by the final horn. Plus, Carter looks worn slam out right now while Bussi is relatively fresh. I think it would be better for Carolina if Game 6 was Saturday instead of Sunday.

We really didn't have interest in the Game 3 and 4 watch parties and wouldn't have cared about the Game 6 watch party if the Canes lost last night. Now that the Canes have a chance to win the Cup on the road, we definitely would like to be with lots of fellow Canes fans to watch.

Same... after game 1 and 2 I flat out needed the break from people, especially with the watch parties being general admission, my favorite recliner was the best seat in the house...

For a chance to celebrate you know, the thing, with everyone, and know I can do it from the same and only RESA/RBC/PNC/Lenovo seats I've had since the building opened, and for what may be the last event before the Sideline sections get rejiggered and I have to move to keep my aisle seat, I'll drag my introvert self into the arena crowd one more time.

Happy to report that a dilemmna has been solved...

It's been the policy of Polar--the entity that runs all the rinks (except Hillsborough) in the area--to postpone beer league games that conflict with any Canes home game during the last two rounds of the playoffs. The beer league team I captain plays on Sunday nights and our game this week is scheduled for 9:30.

Needless to say, I along with many of my teammates intend to spend this Sunday night watching instead of playing hockey. Polar, however, initially reaffirmed that their policy only applied to home playoff games.

Fortunately, they reversed course, and have postponed all beer leagues games from 8PM on this Sunday night.

Yup, I was counting noses for the past couple days for the squad I captain, who had a 10:15p game Sunday at WCC. Not many at all of a 21-player team, including myself, were going to be lacing them up. Was very pleased this morning to hear Polar took care of this, though if I had a 7:45 game Sunday I'm not sure I'd be quite as relieved.

Just got in to buy watch party tickets and it’s sold out.
That’s why the queue is finally moving … lol.

Oh well. My friends will be bummed. Personally it looks like both of my kids are going to come to the house to watch with us, which I vastly prefer.

Once the 3PM window opened for general public, over 70k people were in the queue. There will definitely be news stories and N&O articles about that.

That’s because they never cleared the season ticket holders. My friends got up with me kind of late, but I was in by a little before 11am and never even got close to a sniff at actual tickets. Which is fine. It was just an open tab to check every half hour or so. But unless you want to argue that 6 per account was too many, then demand simply exceeded supply … which is fixed.

And what a statement for the market. That’s the real takeaway. Can you imagine filling the building in 2002 to watch on the Jumbotron? And in 2026 we’re going have the arena packed with paying customers, Red Hat full of people and 6 or 8 other watch parties packed out. This is good news, not bad news.

Gary Roberts is probably shaking his head in disbeleaf somewhere.
