2025-26 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

I think Kevyn Adams is competent in the right front office role. Probably not in a front office with such a lean operating model as Carolina's but maybe with a team that has more of a personnel guy as the GM and is in need of somebody to manage traditional executive roles.
 
Interestingly, Kevyn Adams didn’t come into town for the 20th anniversary celebration, citing work obligations, only to be fired.

Yeah, in retrospect he's probably wishing he called called in sick and come down for the weekend.
 
I was going to post after he was fired that I wouldn’t mind Kevyn coming to Raleigh in some capacity. I think he would fit in perfectly with Tulsky’s staff and with Rod

If he had come for the anniversary, the calls for his firing would have only intensified. He probably made the right decision, but I'll bet he wanted to come.
 
Anyone know why Erik Cole and JWilly didn't make it for the celebration with the other guys?

Williams was around for the earlier stuff, just not for the Canes game. I presume he had a conflict. Not sure on Cole, but he's working out of the market I think.
 
Interesting. I wonder if he'll be a silent minority partner or if he'll talk sense to Haslam and they'll go find a real GM?
 
Connor McDavid has scored only 20 points in his last seven games. When will homeslice ever play up to his predraft expectations?
 
Fenway sports group is selling the ice skating retirement home that is the penguins. Selling to the Hoffman family who are Chicago based. No amount publicly given but it’s around 1.7-1.8 billion. Thats a lot of geritol and tapioca pudding.

They really, really needed fresh blood in the owner's suite. FSG was just choking them
 
They might wait until after the holiday roster freeze (they don't have to), but Berube is definitely not going to be their head coach much longer. I mean, he probably isn't wrong with that comment, but that team is just a mess at the moment and they are not about to fire all of their players.

One thing more thing I would say about the Leafs....where the heck is their Captain?

Agree on Berube. He's talking like a man who knows his time is up, and it almost certainly is. Plus, there have been a lot of rumors that Pete DeBoer has been taking meetings, so ... yeah. That math holds up.

As for their Captain, if it's true that he's playing through another injury after playing last year with basically one arm, then I'm inclined to give him a bit of a break.
 
Even if he is not producing, Matthews should at least be fielding the hard questions from the media. That is part of the captain's job, but he seems to be AWOL when it comes time to be the face of the team and deal with the media.

The coach can deflect blame from the team (or throw them under the bus like Berube just did), but ultimately the captain of the team is supposed to be ready to stand there and field the shots from the media. Matthews seems to want to just be an "on ice captain". Sounds like they could use some real locker room leadership.
 
Yeah, I get that. Toronto's media are abusive and abrasive but somebody's got to talk to them ... and that's the guys who wear the letters. And whoever the poor, embattled coach is at any given time.
