2025-26 Premier League Thread

I'm out of country, so I didn't see the Villa match. It is really weird, because other than Rogers regaining form, there is no difference between how Villa looked at the beginning of the season when we couldn't win to now when other than giving Liverpool their only recent win, we can't lose. And that's not to say Rogers is the difference, since he was still god awful when Villa started winning, he's just recently found his form again. At no point this season have we consistently created chances. It does make things exciting though I guess as we have yet to score a boring goal, it's just oops all worldies!

Pao Torres and Tielemans getting healthy has also had an impact. But yeah, somebody up front needs to be finishing and if Waktins is going to stay erratic then Rodgers is the most likely candidate. He finally got his head on straight and they're finally converting enough to generate points.

I love that little man so much. He's been my favorite villa player for some time and really glad he's back in the fold.

I kind of assumed we were gonna get stomped today, but while we look like the worst team in the league against wolves, we show up in the big ones. I truly don't understand how this is the same team I've watched all season. I think we are also finally seeing the change in the LB depth chart that's been about a year overdue.

Been a huge fan since his breakout with Norwich back in, what, 2017? 2018? (it's become a bit of an inside joke among Pasadena Reds about my heading the Pasadena branch of his supporters club. 😁) You can see the skill but also the enthusiasm to play the game. I've tracked his progress since he was at Carrow Road. Always delighted to see him play, and particularly so when he scores.

This upcoming matchweek (Matchweek #16) in the Prem

Saturday 13th December
Chelsea v Everton
Liverpool v Brighton
Burnley v Fulham
Arsenal v Wolverhampton

Sunday 14th December
Crystal Palace v Manchester City
Nottingham Forest v Tottenham
Sunderland v Newcastle
West Ham v Aston Villa
Brentford v Leeds

Monday 15th December
Manchester United v Bournemouth

I honestly wish I knew what the heck to expect from my Reds. It's a home fixture, but we've been poor at home this year (4-1-2, currently 12th best in Prem). And Brighton usually plays us tough.

Yeah ... he never really has though. Adams has constantly battled leg issues throughout his entire career. His frame just wasn't built for his engine.

My goodness, we actually beat a shitty United team. We almost never do that! Morgan Rogers is finishing on a completely different level now. Well for worldies that is. He did miss the net on our best chance of the match from Maatsen putting it across the box. Very happy that Maatsen is FINALLY cemented as our starting left back. I don't think it's a complete coincidence that Rogers has stepped up in form recently as well, since Maatsen is so much more versatile and creates so much more space for Rogers than Digne does who can basically be ignored by defenses.

Wasn't exactly a great game from Villa, but they made those two bolts from Rogers stand up and that's all that really matters ... especially during the Festive/Frantic season. Just collect results and worry about what it looks like later.

Note: I did enjoy Lee Dixon taking the ref to task for basically the entire broadcast. Other than those two goals, that was by far the highlight of the game.

Both teams’ legs should be in tatters for that one. I hate that a match that important ends up landing in the middle of the festive season meat grinder.

Also, Cash and Kamara will be out for yellow card accumulation. Fun.
